My son was sneezing this evening and I said "Scat you ole cat." Got me to wondering if that is just a southern thing? My parents told us that growing up. Anybody else?
 
My southern grandmother would say "scat." I don't remember her saying "scat the cat."

Hadn't thought about that in years... :)

For some reason it always made me feel good when they said that. It really tickled me when I was very young.
 
My folks always said "Scat" - but I never sneezed first. Wonder if they were hinting. Naw - they weren't hinting, they must of been serious!!

maybe they were just alerting you so you wouldnt step in the scat...
