I don't know where to put this so will try here: IS anyone here familiar with pounding in fence posts?

I have a lot to do and pounding would be a lot easier than the skid steer/auger/cement/dry/backfill standard method.

Just hard to see how you can just pound in an 8" x 8 ft flat bottom corner post in heavy clay.

Can you get them in straight?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a friend with a big driver. I believe it is a King Hitter but not positive on the brand. I have seen him drive drive a RR tie into ground that is basically nothing but fist sized rock. Post went in straight and I guaranteen you that the post was solid, not one bit of wiggle in it..

What I do on 6x6 posts and bigger is I take a chain saw and sharpen a little just back about 6 inches. Makes them drive a lot faster and you only have to do 2 sides.

Thank you all for the replies. I will give the pounder a try. I've watched the videos but never seen it done first hand.
