For hogs and calves, a good tight square bale of straw. For some reason they love to jump it or step on it and it doesn't spook them like a step or ramp.
This is a good idea.^^^^^^ Or just some loose hay or straw to cover the open space between trailer and the ground.
Keep the electric prod handy, but only use it as a last resort. Don't rush. Give cattle a bit of time to think about it, and they will usually do the right thing.
