I finally scheduled a long overdue appointment to get fitted for hearing aids.
I would like to hear how they have worked out for others.
I'm thinking the earplug type would be best for me.
Thanks for any ideas and imput

After firing way too many shells over the years without protection I went with the over the ear type with the little clear tubes. They really help in crowds especially. Never tried the in ear type so I'm not much help.

The Dr or specialist will tell you what kind will work best for you. A long story but I have severe tinnitus. My aids are able to help me deal with it thru programs. They have helped a lot. The best thing is not to get them too wet or sweaty if you can.

In the 1990s my dad got a virus and went deaf in one ear. Dr said he was lucky because the virus attacks the nerve but often it is the eye and you go blind overnight. He has reduced hearing in his other ear but really bad tinnitus. So he got over the ear aids with the clear tubes. The one in his deaf ear transmits the noise to his good ear so he can hear things on his left side. It has transformed his life. Just the batteries annoy him, they don't go flat, they just die. My sister had chemo for ovarian cancer in her early 20s and it damaged her hearing so she has the same hearing aids and loves them.

Dad has them and they are great, when he wears them. He can actually hear the tv or conversations without constantly questioning everyone.

My step dad just turns his down or off when he doesn't want hear. 😅🤣😂 To many family around talking he turns it down or off. 😝

I had the hearing test last week. The audiologist set up a trial set to try.
It was unreal how well I could hear. I asked if he had them jacked up just to make a sale
it was so loud and clear. I've worn ear plugs for many years so I wanted to try that style.
He made the impressions of my ear canal. They should be ready next week.
Looking forward to hearing all the farm sounds again.

Have had them 6 years. Highs and lows as with everything. All fans will be far louder than ever before.
