Banding Problem?

To those of you that use the Cheerios bands at birth, do you administer a tetanus antitoxin? I have only banded one calf but we will have more cows due to calve at the end of the year. I'd like to be prepared!

Neighbor calves out about 1,000. He bands most of them at birth (95%). Everything that gets banded gets an 8 way that has tetanus included (I don't remember which one). He has lost young calves to tetanus, so if it gets a band it gets a shot.

Speaking from experience, this is not true.

Tetanus toxoid at Banding is a must ,it is a sad sight to see a calf with tetanus.

Been banding 3 to 400 calves a year for a while now. Vaccinate at branding when they are 10 to 45 days old. Lost one calf years back to tetanus a couple weeks after he was branded. Think about whether we should be doing it but haven't yet. We just banded and vaccinated a few big bull calves this week. Will see what happens.
