I do believe I have that same manual!I don't have a .154 grain BT load, but here are some options
You strike me as more of a 38-55 fella! Not Really,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Model 92 in 44 Mag pushing a 200 grain hard cast poly coated at 2100 FPS is pretty rough. It will flatten a big Russian boar like a semi hit him.The 45-70 is on my firearm bucket list. Don't necessarily need one since my hunting ranges from 20 to 500 yards and at 500 I'd be lobbing it as a mortar instead of precision. Lol. I'd like one with a 16" carbine barrel, thought I could justify it concerning 4 legged critters when up in the mountains huckleberry and morel picking. Wolves have been making a comeback in our corner of the state and I like to be over gunned when the kids are playing in the sticks up there. A mares leg in 44 mag has caught my eye once or twice too but haven't made the leap. I really need to complete some rifle projects before spending any more.
I've looked at the Rossi and Henry both. I'd look at the Buffalo Bore dangerous game series. I believe they're 240 gr hard cast comin' out over 2000 fps. I figured hot sauce ammo since I've always liked the carbine models, if I'm gonna pack it around for self defense then it should be maneuverable and pack a punch with a short barrel. I actually thought the 44 mag would be better for rifle control as well vs the 45-70. Less muzzle blast for faster follow up. All the power in the world isn't worth jack if it doesn't transfer to what you're trying to hit. I just want the 45-70 cuz I'm still young and dumb and like the big kid on the block.
