    Bad luck keeps on coming

Well I had him locked up in my barn. Had a gate held shut with some baling twine but he broke out of there into a pen with some feeders. I had some hay to get up so left him be in there. He tore up a net wire fence and is now back on the neighbors property. Just put that fence up a month ago...

So the neighbors bull is back. Chased him around for about an hour before I could get him caught in my pen. He went thru two fences this time. When I contact the owner should I suggest hauling it to the sale barn for him or talk hard about other fencing options. He just has a small 30 acre hobby...

Regardless of the outcome I have finally gotten a @gizmom angus bull I have been drooling about. Can’t say enough about the Gilmore’s.

According to their policy coverage was for a bull. Nothing more specific for that. You can own multiple bulls and if one dies under one of the items it’s covered. Only found all this after I was denied the claim.

I kept his head for those reasons you said. I then found out this insurance company did not need proof of an exact animal. Just had to show proof of a bull. Getting a mount of him now since I didnt have to show proof of his tattoos.

Not sure I could produce sufficient evidence of anything for them to change their minds. Lack of autopsy from a third party I feel like is a loss of leverage on my part. Not that I would persuade the third party to fall into one of the 25 parameters. ;)

My dads and grandfathers old farm was about 1/4 mile off the end of a small airport. Had two ultralights lose power on the approach and land in the pasture. Current farm isn’t to far from a regional airport so I see plenty or air traffic over head. Probably not a bad idea to have airplane coverage.

My backup bull I only paid $600 for it as a weenling so if he is torn apart I’m covered. 🤣

Not sure how a cow could be accidentally torn apart. The only good loophole I discovered is that if I have 5k coverage for a bull it doesn’t specify a certain bull. If I have three bulls and one gets hit by lightning or drowned it’s covered. Doesn’t matter what I paid for it.

The only livestock I have covered was the bull because the 800 mile ride home he had to take and the cost of him. My talk with my insurance agent about coverage on the whole herd didn’t sound like a good deal. I would almost have to have 3-4 cattle lost to get a check that would be worth my time.

Well I got the word yesterday that the insurance isn’t going to pay out. Says he didn’t die in one of the 25 ways that will pay out. They are sending me all the paperwork. Going to hope to find something I can use to overturn it but it’s not looking good.

Yeah that would be my fault. It’s been 2 1/2 years ago and I can’t remember reading it. It is Travlers

I only had a policy to cover the bull. Wish they would have said to get an autopsy before they would pay out. Guess I’m going to have to wait and see.

I hope they don’t drag this on. If they do ask if he is really dead I do have his noggin in the shop fridge right now. Had a policy on him since I purchased him so I hope it pays off. Only had him 2 1/2 years.

Seems some people are wanting to try Wagyu but not willing to buy a whole or half a cow. The people that want a whole or half look at the final number more than the Wagyu hype. So if I have a Wagyu usda inspected and sell by the cut the steaks sell fast and then I’m stuck with a ton of burger...

It’s always fun dealing with insurance people that know nothing about livestock. Insurance doesn’t know anything about a donation and he is now in a 8 ft hole. Not planning on digging him up either. If they need more proof he is dead his head is in the fridge waiting to get a skull mount done.

Selling freezer beef I wanted to try and improve what I was already making. I was hoping this would help me stand out from the other farms. I can sell my commercial steers no problem but the wagyu crosses are about $400 more and nobody wants to pay the extra for them.
