This seems to be the most level headed way to approach it.

    GLS Declaration calves

Would love to see updates on these calves as they grow. I am thinking of using Declaration this spring.

    KBHR High Road E283

Looks like a good bull. Numbers look great also. However I was not overly impressed my 2 Beacon calves this year. They were way too small at birth. I have decided to try to stay away from negative bw numbers. However I know your birth weights run a good bit higher than average so i expect he...

    HPF Optimizer Calf

Looks like a good one! I just took a Select Sires AI course and am considering using some of my semen certificates on some Optimizer semen. Glad you posted this.

    Simmental bull

Anybody have any suggestion on a blaze face sire that doesn't go back to Dream On or Legacy? Purebred preferred.

What breed of bull to use?

] I would not let frame size scare me away from Simmental. A lot of the Simms are just as moderate if not more than some of the angus. It may just be me but most of the gelbvieh I see are probably more framey than the Simmental. I don't know much about the Murrey Greys other than what I...

    Yuck, what a mess!

Always enjoy looking at your cattle. Do you still have the Lock N Load bull that you picture a few months ago? I believe he may have been a February 2014 calf? Really liked the looks o him also.

    Angus cow bulls

This is not really a suggestion but more of a question on this subject. I have heard that SAV 004 Predominant was a good cow maker. Just wondering if anyone has experience with his daughters?

Assisting the Beef Cow at Calving Time while cross breeding

Someone needs to tell all of our crossbreed calves that they are too small. Surprisingly so far 75 lbs. has been the biggest calf we have had this year out of our new bull. Maybe if I read this report to the cattle they will do a better job of growing before they're born.

    EPD's vs Actual Weights

Epd's can be a useful tool if you trust the breeder or breeders doing the reporting. I am very skeptical when it comes to epd's and I am probably in the minority here. Went and looked at a bull a year or so ago. Everything this guy had was low bw. However when he described his process...

    Happy with this one...

Nice heifer! Didn't know those "show" sector cattle could grow like that! :D

    Red vs Black

Black and black baldies will sell about even here. Smokes as long as they are good will not take much if any hit. Red will almost always take a hit, how much depends on quality of the animal.

Two for sale at the beef expo, Louisville

Would you consider Remington Lock n Load a bull for the "performance" sector or the "show" sector?

    You just never know!

They look like nice calves. We are excited to get our first crop of calves out of our Lock N Load son starting in January. I would have expected a little white on all three also. But like you say you just never know.

    Replacement Heifer Prices

I called the guy we got are bull off of yesterday and he is selling his bred heifers for $2500-$3500. I am going to go look in the next week or so. I looked at them back in January when we were up there buying the bull and he had some nice heifers.

    Looking for show steer

You might want to check Breeders World. They are having a lot of online sales right now. I don't know if that is something you are interested in but I have seen a lot of nice steers on there. Personally I haven't bought anything from an online sale but I know some who have. But if you don't...

    Give me some opinions

I am looking to go mainly to the Maine, Simm, Angus cross in the future. I like the ones I have seen. We will be getting our first calf crop out of our Simmangus bull this spring. He is a son of Remington Lock N Load. Consistency is my goal but it will take a while to get there. My dad has...
