    $M search

The OP’s list of bulls is missing Magnitude at $106. Generally, lower is better for the foot EPDs, given most of the current problems.

    Worthington semen tank

Both are good tanks and you should be fine either way.

    Angus bull thoughts.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was looking at President, America and Raindance who each rank in the bottom 40% for DMI but we must just define “high” differently. Thanks

    Angus bull thoughts.

Branded, you’ve made a few references about using high DMI sires with no mention of RADG. I’m curious, do you prefer higher DMI sires and why?

God Bless America! SAV America 8018 to be exact.

Low HP, CEM and Marb and no genomic test. No thanks, not likely to sire the type of heifers that I’m trying to breed.

    New to AI

If I was going to breed heifers for a terminal calf, I’d look at Magnitude from ABS. Not exactly proven but there’s more room for change on CED.

Selecting AI Sires to improve genetics

For marketing, you probably have to breed to fix a glaring deficiency. Hopefully, you can do so without giving up anything on the other traits. On a side note, there have been a few posts lately that seem to indicate a preference for a high DMI EPD. How is that beneficial without using RADG in...

    Truth or Judgement on Breeding

It may be worth mentioning for some that the sale catalog received from a breeder in your area is not drastically different than the directory received from a bull stud. Both have a product to sale, some are striving to provide for multiple types of customers/markets. Many are focused on the end...

    LN tank?

I’d stick with MVE or Taylor-Wharton brands. Be careful if you go the used route.

The best bull to create replacement females.

Good Angus suggestions so far. I’ll add Broken Bow, Absolute and Peerless to the list.

ST sexed Heifer Bull Genetics ?

It may be worth mentioning, that with the exception of ABS, ST processes all of the sorted semen available regardless of the bull stud.

No back up or Alley stop

I finally gave in this fall and bought the Priefert for our alley. After working cows the first day, I asked my 18 year old what he thought. He indicated that it was pretty handy and that if I had bought it 10-12 years ago, instead of him moving the pipe, he might actually like working cattle

    Angus Bull leftovers

Average for milk is still 24 according to the percentiles on the Angus website

    Commercial cow bull

While you are looking at those ABS bulls, you might review their Angus Sire Alliance program. Bulls like Bruiser, Impression and Substantial could make great replacements as they are moderate milk with good CEM. Future Force and Reserve increase carcass weight along with marbling and ribeye...
