Sold 6 steers today. Black,Long time weaned, one round of shots, averaged 694 pounds. They brought 1.28. How's that compare with yalls areas?

7 weight steers here topped $181.50 and averaged $176.80 last week. Load lots in Alberta on TEAM in your weight range went from $2.06 to $1.92. There is 6 cents freight from here to feedlot alley in southern AB. The singles and small bunches either weren't in big volume or didn't carry the quality need to command higher prices here.

Vale's market report list 600-700 steers at $125 -$148 with the top at $148.50. Weaned and vaccinated would be to the top of that range. La Grande list them at $130-$157.

At Central Oregon Livestock in Madras, Oregon on Monday, 600- to 700-pound steers went from $140-$153. Watched online for a while and saw a pen of 31 averaging 643 lbs. sell for $146.75, and a pen of 23 steers averaging 671 lbs. sold for $142. These prices were for weaned calves (a minimum of 30 days) with 2 rounds of vaccines, some dewormed, etc. Singles, small lots, off types, non-weaned and non-vaccinated, etc., seemed to bring $15-$40 less from what I could tell. The auction in Woodburn on Tuesday didn't list any feeders in the 600-700 range, just a few lighter weight calves.

Our heifers averaged $119.50, 483 and 610 lbs, the steers came in at $146.50 at 485 lbs and $122.00 at 609. 33 head total on the heifers and 23 on the steers.

2 rounds of shots but not backgrounded the way we normally do it because of an injury to my farm manager. Yes, I was disappointed but not surprised.

That's depressing. I sure am glad I got out when I did. I guess even a blind squirrel finds nuts sometimes....
