Propane tractor

Help Support CattleToday:

Not still using.....but have used one.
Mid-1960s JD ran on LPG.
It ran well compared to other diesel tractors its size. The only issue I had with it was if you were far away from the filling tank you had to go all the way back to refill whereas a diesel tractor can easily be refilled by a tank in a pickup or rolling nurse tank.

Would that have the same type of fitting as a propane tank on a truck? When I had my old propane half ton I had a hose made up so I could fill it from a 20lb barbeque tank if I ran out of fuel. Worked good for emergencys but I don't think I'd want to fill a tractor for a days work that way.

I still use my 1949 Super M Farmall. It runs great. I can't compare it to a diesel because I've never had one.
