Has anyone here had any experiences with jc martin saddle co out of Greenville, TX? Im in the market for another good using saddle, I've seen pictures of a couple made by jc martin that looked pretty nice, but haven't seen any in person. I was hoping someone here would have some input about them either good or bad.
Thank you.

I have never been around a JC martin saddle, but saw this thread and did a little research. Looks like they got a bit of a bad reputation for importing some english saddles out of India, but have discontinued that since 2011. Reading about their process and the material they use, they seem to be using quality materials in their trees and the leathers seems more than adequate. I don't know the price of them or how they fit a horse though. Depending on the price I would go with a saddle maker with a bit more of a reputation if the prices are comparable. That's just my two cents though.

Ive been considering ordering one but the company seems sketchy. I have reached out to them twice and gotten short one sentence replys or nothing. There is no phone number to call and when i was recently in Texas i asked if i could take a look and was told they are online only. So there is absolutely nowhere you can go to look at one before you buy it. Even though the price is good that kind of weird me out. The saddles look really fancy and the photography is nice but who wants to handover $1500 and wait five months to see if something actually arrives in the mail. I've also read a couple of complaints on the Better Business Bureau website that says they keep delaying their shipping dates. The only reviews I can find from one guy who does their testing for him on YouTube videos other than that, it's pretty much impossible to find anyone else who's ever bought one of their saddles. So my thought is looks too good to be true and probably is .

I think Jc Martin is in Allen , TxView attachment 45597

Not the same as Martin Saddlery in Greenville, Tx.

Don't know anything about Jc Martin.

I always wanted a custom Martin Wade saddle. The quality is top notch.
I have a Dale Martin (which is Martin Saddlery) team roper saddle I bought back around 2002. It has been a good saddle. Fits most horses really well. Full double rigged with semi QH bars.

Dale Martin and J C Martin are two way different saddle companies. Dale Martin is a great saddle but no experience with J C Martin. My guess would be not great. You get what you pay for. Me personally Billy Cook is a pretty good saddle for the money if you are talking off the shelf. Circle Y and Courts are decent saddles also.

I'd recomend a Dale Martin saddle and order it the way you want, it will take a bit longer but you'll have exactly what you like. Jeff Smith also makes a great saddle. If Jim Taylor is still making saddles in Greeneville he makes a good saddle but it takes him a long time

I've never bought a brand new saddle. There are too many good used ones out there for much more reasonable prices.

Dad has broke the tree in several saddles. His last saddle he bought when working for Warren Livestock was by the saddle maker Tony Holmes out of Cheyenne Wyoming. This would have been early 1960's

The story goes. That when in the saddle shop dad and Tony would talk about how dad would like his saddle. Over months of talking one day Tony said to dad, here is your saddle. AT that point dad felt he really couldn't afford it, but since Tony built specifically for him he bought it. I sits a horse really good, and it was the last saddle dad ever needed. He would jerk bulls into the trailer with it. Where other saddles could not stand the pressure this one did. Now that dad is no long riding I have been using it. Although I am not near the rider dad used to be.
