    Finally figured out the problem.

    Aggressive Bull

Don't carry a gun when I work cattle. If I did, though, I'd have shot many.

    Got the look

Not a fan of either of those bulls but checked on their auction video link and they do have some others that look pretty nice. Also selling some amazing looking cow calf pairs. Udders on the sale cows all look pretty flawless.

    Landowner problems when leasing

Drama.. come on man, the op has every right to be unhappy and should set up a meeting to discuss with the owner.. You're suggesting he call the cops on the owner's daughter.. worthless drama

    Feeding time at the zoo

Nice response! Last time I was asked that I said: I'll tell you, if you let me see your bank statement.

    Ideas to catch "wild" cows

May be an awful idea but may be worth a try: one of my neighbors had some yearling feeder calves. 7 or 8 were idiots that he couldn't bring up to his corral. He ended up selling the rest and was about in the same fix as your buddy with the flighty ones. I brought 5 of my old gentle cows onto...

    Ideas to catch "wild" cows

Life's full of frustrations and aggravation. If you're like me you have enough of your own without taking on those of others. My advice is to just wish him luck and move on.

    Ideas to catch "wild" cows

I think you've already given him the best advice. Other than that he could contact the local stockyard manager, and they may be able to hook him up with some cowboys with dogs.

    Bacon anyone?

10 They're sold privately. We haul them to the butcher; the buyers pick the meat up directly at the butcher

    Bacon anyone?

Pigs go to market tomorrow. Got them weighed today. Average weight 353 with the biggest at 370 and the smallest at 320. After expenses, the boy netted around $220/hog.. he feels like a wealthy 11 year old!

    When to put out hay

Ironically, got a call a neighbor that I had 15 cows out by the road. He opened the gate and let them back into the pasture.. he said that he thought it was weird that they seemed so wild and skittish but not to worry, he got them in.. then I got a call from a guy that runs cows further up the...

    When to put out hay

I usually wait until they start busting out onto the neighbor's. 😃

    Poor feeder design

This is the second calve that's gotten their head stuck in the lower portion of these tarter 2 piece feeders. No more: I'm switching these out with some that I feed the cows with. Free at last! Took some oil and pushing, but I was able to avoid the hacksaw.

    Breeding heifers

The only changes I would suggest would be change from blocks to bagged mineral and have the vet pelvic measure the heifers before breeding. During the pelvic check, the vet may have been able to identify if any were free martins or had issues that wouldn't have made them suitable for breeding...

    Saved by speed

Nice pair. Why was she on the cull list?

    Bull prospect

Pretty close to a year old. He wouldn't hold still for a good picture. He's done pretty good on just grass and mineral the last 3 months. Many of the fall bred cows that he's with are starting to show so he'll be pulled to the bull lot in a week or so. If he passes a BSE, I'll let him run with...
