    First branding done

You already have them cut or banded at birth? We have a table and tip them. Heifers and bull calves left in tact are quick, steers take a little longer.

    Good morning!

A few years ago we had 8" of snow on May 20. But that was already a wet spring and it came straight down, not a blizzard. We are at 4800-5000' here, which is low for a lot of Wyoming. Today is a hot wind at 80* and the smooth brome in the old CRP is starting to throw seed heads at 5" tall...

    Good morning!

I'd love to have about 6" of that. Looks like August around here. All tan with a slight tint of green when it should be bright green.

    Need working facility

Thinking way out of the box maybe a heavy single axle where the rear one is and 16" inch rims and run it as a single axle GN. Probably easier to just trade it

    The first dwarf

Doesn't sound like any of the known defects.

    Blue Sky

Was 14* last night. Heifer decided to drop her calf 16 days early, but was in a good spot and took care of business. Tiny little thing be lucky to weigh 50#. Hope the rest cook them another week. Mid-40s and windy today and near 60 tomorrow.

    I see train wreck coming

They can tank up on alfalfa then the protein should carry them 3-4 days eating old meadow grass. Kind of limit feeding, but over a longer time span and not as good as a few pounds of alfalfa every day and go hustle for the fill.

    Blue Sky

When we get 60-70* days in March it's occasionally the precursor to a three-day blizzard.

    supplement

It's been about 7-8 years since we needed steers to be fuzzy. I'm pretty much out of the loop on show cattle.

    supplement

Stabilized rice bran adds fat to ration and won't burn the hair off if that is what you are asking. Don't go more than about 4-5% of the ration with fat or they will get the squirts. Then use Full Tank or one of the other filler type feeds to belly them down. You might ask on Steer Planet -...

    Cold bitz

Yah mine was plugged in all night and running today, but not very good. Was -17F today. Not sure if trying to gel up or something worse. It had anti gel dope in fuel. Hope it's just a gel problem. Supposed to be +9F tomorrow so will see how it goes.

auto lock ai gun needle stuck

I would bet the ratchet thing inside the housing is bent. See if you can unscrew the base where your finger is on the button and see what is hanging up. Then strip the guts out of it or get a new A.I. gun. What is the purpose of the auto lock?

    What happened to white angus?

Black hide - should make CAB

    Cold bitz

It's working it's way down here. Saturday night looking at -20*F. Supposed to be +39*F by Wednesday, but then it might come back. Cowboy Ram probably get it worse than us and it will stay cold longer in the basin.

    Passive Income From Your Ranch

It could be passive income if they pay you to let them load and haul the compost.

Some thoughts and questions about beef

I occasionally pull out the sous vide machine and put steaks in at 133* for 45 minutes. Then can grill or pan sear for a couple minutes per side and perfect medium rare every time.

    I see train wreck coming

Columbian roast (medium) or Italian roast (darker but not as dark as French roast) whole bean and grind my own. Flavored coffees taste nasty to me. Been grinding my beans since 1990. Drink black and strong or with heavy cream. Usually a couple big cups in the morning and pour whatever is left...
