    Tx brucellosis vacc requirements

One day we were loading a bull and as usual we started from just beyond where the trough is. We would get him running thru those pens up to the trailer and hop in, but he turned around and came at me. I threw my cap on the ground and he stuck his nose on it while I jumped up on the fence. After...

    Tx brucellosis vacc requirements

What are the requirements in Texas for the brucellosis vaccination for retained heifers? I've read a few documents from the state and still not sure. Called the vet office and was told need to vaccinate before 12 months old, or testing would be required after 12 months old. Are the vaccinations...

    Lost 3 to blackleg

We've been giving cows annual booster shots when we castrate bull calves (about 1-2 months old) in December, but sounds like for the benefit of the calves, we may be better off giving cows booster vaccines 2 months prior to calving, for the calves to get the most benefit from their mamas...

My neighbor says my cows are too fat

Those cows look ok to me, it's kinda hard to tell from the pictures. You got any pictures of the neighbors cows? I drive by a place going to town that most of the cows look emaciated, but sheriff drives by also and their still there.

    Fly larvae control with justifly?

jltrent (formerly jed clampet) do you have a photo of the rubs added to the salt licks? We've been using fly tags (tag in both ears in cattle and calves), minerals with IGR, and pour on when needed. I think the fly tag rotation is important as it seems to be working for us.
