    BED PI testing

I do. Would only test if you test them all and plan to weed them out. Had several positives with no symptoms but infect to whole woodpile.

    Receiving new cattle

A bottle of draxxin is cheaper than losing a calf. Revlor implant lasts 240 days

    Sick and droopy

Pull temp. If hot use draxxin and baytril to keep from repulling. Gotta act quick with summer pneumonia.

    Receiving new cattle

You're welcome. I wouldn't hesitate to consult with a local vet as well. Taking temp on incoming calves has been a valuable troubleshooting tool for me too. What area are you from?

    Receiving new cattle

Quicker respiratory coverage with the nasal vaccine. Longer coverage with the injectable.

    Receiving new cattle

I don't give draxxin to cows I buy either. Cuts down on repulls and death loss on lightweight calves for me. That's why I would recommend it to someone starting out. Mass treatment protocol is an age old debate on stockers.

Draxxin, covexin 8, virashield 6, inforce 3, multimin 90, cydectin injectable. This heat will sure bring out a lunger hence the draxxin and inforce.

    Stocker buyer question

Some let them settle a week then work and temp them all. Give hot ones a shot of draxxin. Zactran will be a bit cheaper for mass treatment. CTC in feed will knock the coughing out, these radical temperature fluctuations have caused some trouble with that.

    The knife and the moon

I cut by the signs. Takes some stress out cutting yearling bulls.

    pi testing

Does anybody pi test calves they buy? If so what's the most cost effective method?

    Mastitis

Got a case of mastitis in a non lactating feeder heifer. Took to vet, he recommended a few rounds of la200 therapy. Given a couple rounds of la200 with mixed results, getting tired of running her through chute every couple days. What works on this?

    Any Guess On Age?

She looks good. Look at her teeth.

    Deworming calves?

I used to like the generic ivermectin til I had a fecal sample done on some calves. 60 days after shot they had 2-3 times the worm load they could handle. Vet recommended cydectin injectable for short term and long range for long term.

    Lungers

I sold 3 chronic beef heifers yesterday for $150, $120, and $12 each. Still had temp and bad lungs after 60 days. I couldn't get any gains on them.

    sale barn cattle

Looks good to me. I would use the killed virus on first round and booster with modified live. Covexin 8 wouldn't hurt on either one.

    weaning 2017

You should be able to get a 16% commodity ration for $200 or less a ton in bulk in your area.

    Bacterins for cattle

    How do you test Jeanne?
  19. RanchMan90

    Bacterins for cattle

No. May look into it. Not sure what the costs are.

    Bacterins for cattle

It's certainly a learning experience. So viruses can only be prevented not treated in cattle?
