    Mound Creek Brangus

Anyone here purchased bulls from Mound Creek? I daydream at times and look at different seedstock operations....the bulls look exceptional. Just curious if anyone has some real world experience with them on crossbred cows :tiphat:

    Are they worth the investment?

Yes they can! The times that they sull in the chute and just have that low, continuous gutteral (spelling) growl....you just know they're wanting to hook your clothes off.

    Are they worth the investment?

I know what you mean! I have a weakness for a uniform herd of dark striped cows!!! It would be cool to know the prevalence of bottle tits on the f1's off either Hereford or Brahman dams...

    Are they worth the investment?

I agree on the sometimes bloated price tags - I've been to special sales where 3 or 4 potential buyers get into an ego contest on who has the larger checkbook. Two years ago I watched an older gentleman pay $3500 for short bred f1s.

    Are they worth the investment?

I'm looking for some input here from guys/gals with long standing operations consisting of half blooded brahman cattle in the South I had a pretty long winded conversation with a cousin of mine about the initial input cost of F1 cows vs your average commercial cow purchased from the sale barn...

    Hereford x Longhorn ?

If you have any local team ropers you could sell the horned heifer to rope - she's got good bases and is the right size I'm not sure what you paid for them but fresh roping cattle are worth more than scale prices

    F1 Herd Bull Selection

South Louisiana - it's a group of about 15 cows Since the bull would be free I figured I'd give it a shot...I'm assuming they'd be brahman colored as well

    F1 Herd Bull Selection

    F1 Herd Bull Selection

Has anyone ran a purebred brahman bull over f1 tigerstripe cows? I have a small group of tigerstripes and have an opportunity to borrow a friends brahman for a few months..just curious if anyone has had had any luck with this cross?? :help: :help: My main goal would be to retain any heifers...

    Long Term Investment

You bet. Horse, rope, and catch pen. Just tossing around some ideas on whether buying a full pasture now, early on, is a good idea. Another option could be to buy half the total and pick/chose a few heifers to keep back each year.

    Long Term Investment

Looking for some insight from some veterans that have farmed for several years. What are your thoughts on a young farmer pulling the trigger on a quality set of f1 cows...signed a long term lease and will have adequate pasture for the potential cattle. Good F1's are expensive. Real Expensive...

    Putting on a few lbs.

I've recently purchased a set of first calf heifers that will calve in the spring as 2 year olds. Overall they're in good shape but I think could put on some weight before they calve in the winter. Already gave a round of ivomec+ and turned on good grass. What supplements would yall recommend...
