Post a pic of your bull

Not a great angle for picture but it was muddy, and I wasn't going there LOL. Just picked him up yesterday and he was breeding last night.

    Time to go red!

    Red Charolais

You can interpret it any way you want to further an argument (no you are not here) but bottom line is the same calf will bring more if he’s red or black instead of white in most cases. A manager at a local sale barn told me personally that my smokies would be below average despite being...

    Production sale

Correct all around! If you like a cow say so! If you don’t like a cow go to the next thread. No matter the wisdom, I can get it from someone who’s not that damned rude

    Black Simmental

Warren I understand your statement but have to disagree. The standard here is based on what sells most. Black is the predominant color so it is the standard. Any cost variance from type or color is a premium or a dock. I have white or smoky color so I see the dock. So far the char has given...

Stirring the pot on the LH/corriente topic

Bull was not pure blood, but I would call him Brangus. Probably only 1/4 Brahma left but still black and showing ear. He was a jumper so had to go before he bred every cow in the county.

Stirring the pot on the LH/corriente topic

I had just a couple that were not solid, here is a red, bred to same bull in consecutive years with different results. Will drive you nuts LOL

Stirring the pot on the LH/corriente topic

I've had half a dozen or so colored just like this from l/h crossed with brangus. This was the main reason I switched over to char with the l/h I had.

Stirring the pot on the LH/corriente topic

I’ve never gotten a solid color on my lh even using reg char over solid re lh.

Stirring the pot on the LH/corriente topic

Understand, I should have qualified that they are similar but a little bigger cow(1k) and mature slower. Many people however prefer that meat so this is a good product not just a dishonest market. Good buyers buying for feeders spot these crosses and discount accordingly. I don’t see deception

Stirring the pot on the LH/corriente topic

I can give some answer to that! We started out with some crappy land, adding some lh to keep the ag exempt and added in a brangus bull. Didn’t like the results so switched over to a char bull. Still have a few and we keep those crosses for our family and friends beef. Yes they mature slower, we...

Another breed debate. Beefalo VS Simmentals

That was an amazing time in western okla, you could stand on a rig floor and count the rigs in sight at night

Are you sure Walter Merrick wasn’t hauling old brood mares over there for hamburgers 😂

    Weaned some calves today

I miss being able to feed from the loft into the manger’s since all anyone does is round bale in our area. You can find square but they are a premium as mostly horse hay

    Cow Longevity

When we first got our land it was nothing but weeds and I bought some longhorns to keep on it to chew it down. They did a great job while I was spraying and mowing and threw a decent brangus in there. Old man told me he was going to give me an old longhorn and I told him to just kick her off. 26...

    Brahma cross

Really? I’ve always been told the market for Brahma influences was in south Texas and going east

    Brahma cross

Would the beefmaster put a lot of ear back on the calves? Not sure that would ring the bell here in north Texas but who knows
