Pics of bull catch in chute (I hope)!

I would suggest covering the bottom 3 or 4 boards with a thin plywood to make a smooth inside surface. If a bull wants to rear, the horizontal boards give him traction to climb or worse get a leg caught through an opening. It all depends how calm your bull is in comnfinement.

    Killing the Little Man

You don't need a Bull Sale to support a small producer. Find someone with a decent herd and talk to them about buying a bull prospect. One of the best bulls we've had in a while we got as pick-of-the-litter from a guy that had a great breading program over the years on a commercial herd.

    Registered cattle

We have had some "home raised" commercial heifers that have turned into some really nice cows, and have some that have been duds. We have bought some registered heifers and cows with papers that have been some really nice cows, and some that have been real duds.

    What is important to you

Some of our best producing cows are only milking on 3 cylinders. Temperament is important too. Don't need to get an up close look at that perfect udder while she's running over you.

    Debating Bull Breeds

Black Hereford=Angford. If you want a little muscling and some baldies look for a baldie or blazed Simmental bull. With the stunted condition of the cows, you'll definitely want to look for calving ease bull.

Where do I go From Here?

A good bull can be the biggest bang for your buck to improve your herd. You'll do better to overspend on a good bull than several good cows. Look thru your state breeder associations in your state or surrounding areas to find a few breeders near you. Their genetics should be closer suited to...

Black hided cattle struggling with this heat

We bought a couple British White/ Angus cross cows. They were bred to a registered black Simmental bull. We got two BW looking calves and one all black. We can keep breeding to get purebred Simmental that are all white with black ears and noses and market them as Climate Change immune cattle, LOL.

Guess I’m selling the wrong kind /Craigslist

Most all the adds on the local Facebook livestock group for highlander calves for sale are a scams. People are gullible enough to make an online deposit on cattle they haven't seen and are miffed when the seller and cattle later don't seem to exist.

    Cheap small heifer pairs

I'd hit them with a good dewormer and then they just need some good hay or pasture and a little grain. They should make you money, they've already multiplied!
