    Weaning lot

    I have a small lot that I use to feed feeder cattle in. It currently has 8 stand hi tensile fence. I have added electricity to 3 of the wires. I have never weaned cattle as it hasn't had power until recently. How would you feel about weaning bought cattle in this lot with electric fence now

    Thanks for the info, I plan to put 2 panels with a gate on one end and open to place bales in from the other end, so if the hay is pushed it will still be accessible from the other side. But I will not have to enter the pasture or open a gate to feed.

    This was built out of 2.5 x 2.5 inch square tubing that's 12ga.wall thickness. It is built from seconds of carport tubing from a local carport manufacturer. Thanks i hope they work good.

    Just wanted to post a picture of the fence line hay feeder panel I made to feed free choice hay, or other similar feeds for my feedlot. It's 16 feet long with 11 feed slots. How many feed slots is recommended when feeding free choice hay or such?

    I do plan to build a small recieving lot to put the calves in a few days after purchase, this perimeter fence is for their remaining time at the farm. Any recommendations on size of the recieving lot, about 20 had at a time. Thanks for the responses so far.

    I am more curious about the hi tensile fence above the feeder, how well does it work, is there a problem with calves getting out with this setup vs the feeder with a run of guard rail or such above it.
