From 22 calves only 6 bull calves so far. Heifer year here as well!

Really nice heifers! It's a real pain when they decide that motherhood isn't for them or they forget that they calved in general...

Currently no issues here, as our heifers are later maturing, but I do give a shot of prostaglandin for the oldest weaned heifers, if there were a capable age bull calves with them. Never a bad thing to be safe. Using Dex as well for others if they want to abort until a certain fetus age.

I do plan to keep her. Her dam is 8 years old and no daughters in production yet.

Well, some update on this one as well.. Not the best photo though. He is abit smaller than similar age calves, but other than that he is doing fine. Real happy that managed to get him to live. His dam is due with another AI calf in January.

Yup, exactly acupuncture. It's also used for puppies and kittens. Usually use what I have at the moment, so not a very tiny needle. I personally leave it in for around 5mins, abit longer sometimes, depenting from how quickly I see that the calf started breathing normally. Saw this technique on...

She has changed her colour quite alot! She is the one on the right. The other calf was sired by the same blue and out of another charx cow. Dam was pure white, abit bigger, but daughter has way more belly capacity.
