Well, he didn't make it. He was pretty weak when we found him and very young...too young to not have a mother around. At least he got a couple of good meals and a couple of peaceful nights of sleep. Meowed twice this morning and then went into the great beyond. RIP, little fella.

Noisy little beast

An orphan showed up yesterday - half-starved. Gave a flea bath yesterday. It's very young - about the size of my hand. Bought some milk replacer today. Maybe we can keep it alive until it can go to the animal shelter. Then again, we might wind up with cat #3…the missus is a cat person…sigh

Nope...but we are supposed to get a break for a few days after this front moves through...not raining at my house when I left this morning but drove into it about 25 miles west (near Alto) and stayed in it all the way to Grapeland where it continues to rain even as I type.

There’s a big shiny thing in the sky. Been there all afternoon. Not sure what it is but it’s sitting in a light blue background. Anybody know what it could be…it looks familiar.

Figured it out…when the power kicks in and the generator kicks off, the wind and rain start back up…here we go again.

Commode fixed…now going stir crazy…a bit wet to jump on fencing and downed trees…why does it always happen in places that are hard to reach when wet? Grass in the yard looks fine so no mowing…maybe I’ll go mow the widow lady’s yard this afternoon…or tomorrow…the stir craziness has a way of...

Sun shining bright today but lots of folks are out of power. Crews of linemen all over the area…hats off to them. We’ve been on generator power here since last night. That little Cummins natural gas generator has been worth its weight in gold…hasn’t missed a beat. Probably too wet to do much...

And the rains are back. Raining hard and the wind is getting up. Wind not as bad as before but still a little worrisome in terms of potential for more falling trees. Sigh…here we go again.

And just like that, it disappeared from the radar...hmmmmm

It's better than last July & August…just wish it could be a little more spread out time-wise. Got a ton of work to do out in the pastures. Going to be an intense summer in terms of working down there - trying to do more & more in less and less time. Not going to complain after the last two...

Spoke too soon…pouring down right now and will continue through 9 or 10 tonight. Walked outside and watched clouds moving counter clockwise over what I would guess to be a 5 or 10 mile area. Thankfully the "spin" never really developed…now just a heavy downpour…lots of wind on the front end of...

Had a good interview with the school district this AM. They went ahead and made copies of my driver's license and social security card. One lady said I would probably be contacted to have fingerprints taken in Lufkin for the background check. Wonder how many alarm bells that will set off...

Interviewing for groundskeeping crew leader with local school district tomorrow…retirement from state parks may be just around the corner. The guy said to bring driver’s license and social security card…sounds very promising. Here’s hoping.
