K.I.S.S. is an acronym for systems or procedures in business : Keep It Simple, Stupid. Or, like @Brute 23 said " Keep It Super Simple" ( I kinda like his better, actually). Since you have water outside of the pens too, then put your mineral/salt feeders in the pen. You want to have it to where...

Tell ya what, you are set up pretty well for success. You have 8 cows that are a very good breed to have. Get the neighbor's bull for a month or so, to get them bred. When you go to wean them, all 8 black , polled calves will fit on that 16' trailer for the ride to the sale barn. At today's...

Yeah, if he is going to let you breed to his Brangus bull, then no need to fool with AI. Neighbor just made your life a whole lot easier. So did @Brute 23 , by sending you the contact info for that vet near you, and vouching for him. With just 8 cows, you ought to be able to get a 30 day or...

If you get a pb Angus or Brangus bull, you will always get black calves out of those cows. Back baldies sell well, too, in most of the country. You could get a homozygous for black and polled Black Hereford bull, and raise black baldies every year. With just 8 cows, have you looked into AI?"

How many cows total? And how many of them are red Angus? What are the others that are not red angus?

    Cattle Records

Couple of years ago,. I met a man that raises black Simm x ChiAngus, and ChiAngus x black Simm replacement heifers. He has 30 Simm and 30 Chi-Ang cows. He started putting these together when he got out of the Army after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. seems like he said 2005. Once he had what...

    Hello from Deep East Texas

Amen, brother! If it ain't hot enough to go swimming, and the water in the pool or lake be warm. I don't like it! The best times of my life have been in the summer. I'd rather it be 95 everyday than to ever have weather below 60! I like what the ladies wear in summer a LOT better. A thong swim...

    Hello from Deep East Texas

Supposed to have some storms tomorrow, then clearing out for Sunday. Been getting good rains every 3 or 4 days since April, and we are 7 inches above normal rainfall for the year. But, I remember in 1986, it had done this all spring...maybe we'd have 2 days in a row without rain, but not many...

    New Beefmaster Bull

Always makes me smile when I see these calves as tall as their momma, trying to nurse. I have seen the calves get on their front knees before! How old is your calf in the picture, @tex452 ?

    New Beefmaster Bull

Are these calves by the bull you posted above, or were the cows already bred to a BM when you bought them?

    New Beefmaster Bull

Yep. Low up front. zero to nearly no maintenance or feed costs, and no calving or mothering problems at all. I have seen people try it that their calves bring half of what beef calves do, and people who are getting the same as beef calves. And have a neighbor that feeds out 900-1000 Brangus...

    New Beefmaster Bull

I have been breeding Corr cows to Angus, Brangus, and Ultrablack bulls for 30 years or so. My partner and I bought 223 acres of cut-over pine in the early 80's. We have used it as our own hunting preserve...mostly rabbit and quail. The land is un- improved ....never seen a dozer to clean it...

    What is a 3/3 Angus?

    New Beefmaster Bull

Do you know if this new bull is homozygous for black or not? Bottom line is, when you produce calves of an off color, you give up 20-30 cents per pound. Those are some noice looking calves that @wobbie1775 posted pics of, but they'd bring a lot more when sold if they were all black.

    New Beefmaster Bull

@wobbie1775 , out of all the Brahma composites: Braford, Brangus, Simbrah, Charbray, Santa Gertrudis, etc., I have found a higher percentage of docile bulls...and cows.. in the Beefmasters, than in the rest. @MurraysMutts, no way I'd use that bull on my Corrientes. Nothing but homo for black...

    Need working facility

In all my years, I have never met anyone that regretted the money they spent on working facilities. Whether you build it or buy it, make sure it is of good quality heavy materials. You can not over-build one. Build or buy one 7' or 7'6" tall. I have built facilities out of cross ties and rough...
