    Corkscrew trocars

Take the plug and poke it back in the hole if you think its plugged. Will usually be bubbling, gassing off, whistling sometimes even.

    Corkscrew trocars

Here's a pic I found online, I tend to keep it forward within that triangle, left side of the cow of course. https://www.vetstream.com/Vetstream/med ... g?ext=.png First take a razor blade/scalpel and cut thru the hide slightly (not all the way thru) and 3/4" long or so - just so you can break...

    Corkscrew trocars

Once you put one in leave it for 3 or 4 weeks. Problem is when you take them out early the rumen hasn't healed to the side of the animal, the hide crusts over and then the gas and junk escapes inside the body, poisoning the animal. Animal looks bloated again, but its very difficult to reinsert...

    Baby Calves and Buzzards

Killing Cattle is the reason they congregate like that - but local abattoirs waste is what they're after. I haven't had issues with them though, see them take off with after birth once and a while but thats the extent of it.

    Sissy Cow

How long have they been there? Thats not really what they're designed for. Can't imagine you can put much tension on them. Esp snow load.

    Guess the weight

And accurate record keeping. To track trends year over year. I have a Gallagher TSi system, works off RFID tags which Canadian cattle must have anyways. Throw em thru the chute and wave a wand at them and it tracks the rest.

    Guess the weight

My birthweights are closer to 95lb avg starting out. And avg WW across the board was 636 last yr - with a few that would be in the 220 day range and a handful of small late ones @ in the 150-160 day range but 2.63 was my avg /with avg age 204 days. On cows and grass alone. And I wouldn't say...

    Guess the weight

Thats a poor target. Gotta be doing atleast 2.4/2.5 here or they dont stick around, even as heifers. Cows should be closer to 3. I weighed a few a couple weeks back that are similar age and around 350 (on heifers), so I added 25lbs to my guess. Cow looked tall for 1000 lb'er

    Absess?

Have used needles before also - but with how thick the stuff is inside, I switched to a scalpel and small slice. I seem to get a couple every spring now for some reason. I see them chewing on straw and balage, but thats not new. Running a lot more black cattle now, maybe they have weaker...

    Absess?

It must have chewed on something. Because it got something stuck in its mouth to cause that. Oh yeah and it helps to wear latex gloves when cutting it open, that stuff stinks to get on your hands.

    Absess?

Poke around and look for a soft spot in it, take a scalpel and slice there. squeeze some out and rinse with iodine and then give calf a shot of antibiotics. Clears up quite quickly then. Left untreated it can grow the infection and be painful until it burst thru on its own. Happens from...

    My 2018 WTH moment

This time of year if they aren't milking on certain quarters they will shrink up, if her's were extra long they just look shorter. Have seen some with regular teats do this ,they shrink up like buttons and the calf only sucks the remaining good teats.

Madigan Squeeze Technique for Dummy Calves and Foals

Maybe not for 'resetting them' but I don't really buy that either. You can cast a cow with a rope though, similar to what they are showing, just different placement. Not sure who ever figured it out, but I use it once and a while on full sized cows.

down cow..for how long is still healthy

Had one similar, only I'd park a grain cart beside her for shade. She'd stand a bit if I lifted her, otherwise she crawled. Took a month but she did get up. She didnt stick around long once she did get up.

    Broken teat

If you zoom in on it, it looks like there is a hair strangling it? Perhaps not, but kinda looks that way:
