    How many could you run?

I think 300 to 350 is very doable and shouldn’t take more than a couple hours a day if structured properly. I’m currently running 6 loads of steers a year, app. 420 hd. Other than preconditioning it’s a part time job. I think the key is to what you mentioned. Contracting work, buy all your hay...

    Cow Checking Drone

Looking for a good drone to check cattle and take pictures/video that won’t break the bank. Would need to cover around 900 acres. Thanks in advance. Hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas!

How do you call the cows

We train our calves with the horn during preconditioning. We can rotate 300 steers to another pasture in 5 minutes by tapping the horn.

I didn't see this mentioned by anyone here...

Just read mine for the third time, love it!

    Its hot

I know what you mean CB. I shipped two loads of steers last night to OKC west. I was hoping to hold them until fall but pastures are starting to get really short and pouring hay and feed to them are profit killers. On the bright side, its not a bad time to sell. Cull cows are way up and feeders...

    Guess ya'll driving Chevys

Same thing happened about 3 years ago and I tried to buy one of the F250's. Some were messed up pretty bad, but a few had very light damage. Ford would only sell these trucks as parts with LKQ so no salvage title.

    Taking the Leap

I guess i should have gave more background information and maybe my post was misleading. I am 20 plus years from retirement, in mid 30's. Not new to cattle, been in it my whole life. Just thinking about changing my full time occupation. The original question was what percentage of the land...

    Taking the Leap

I have always had a dream of leaving the corporate world and purchasing a ranch and do cattle full time. Currently where I am located, land prices are through the roof and no land is available to rent. I have been trying to determine how much of a ranch's purchase price would be needed so I can...

    Hemp

I know a couple locals that went all in with hemp this year, now they cant seem to find a buyer. As Lucky P said, dont put in more than you can afford to lose.

    Who makes the best steak?

My favorite has to be from a 2 yo home grown corn fed steer. My favorite cut is Prime Rib, i like to sear it on a cast iron skillet then bake in the oven, perfer mine medium.

    Country music isn't country anymore.

I live about 45 minutes south of Nashville, it has been my experience that the further you get away from Nashville you can actually tune in a country station. Today's country SUCKS. There are a some good artists in Texas that my family and I listen too , Just to name a few: Cody Johnson...
