Hmmmm.... Random Thought? Pickles are best when cold.

    Cost of classic car restoration

I assume tongue in cheek compliment and I appreciate it. Exactly how I felt when I found it. I feel pretty content driving around the ranch and farm to market roads even at only 40 but there are times a hwy trip would better get me where I'm going. Doing 40 in a 75 though doesn't feel...

Those ICONs are nice. I don't own enough cows to pay for one!

    Cost of classic car restoration

Lol. I've only got 3 questions - "How much" I paid? "How much" for me to sell? "How much" to repower?

    Cost of classic car restoration

There's a lot to like about this. If you like old school, the nostalgic driving experience will put a smile on your face. Floor starter, clutch and brake pedals seem a foot off the floor, spring seat to keep you bouncing, huge steering wheel, if you like air conditioning - it's old school -...

    Cost of classic car restoration

The LS was my 1st thought. Keep it to a manual transmission. Need to change the rear end ratio or complete new rear end if I go that route. New steering column to fit. Replacement radiator. Front suspension, and on, and on ............... One of those things that keeps on growing.

    Cost of classic car restoration

Ole Blue - My '48 GMC. After market wheels and bed but original drive train. 228 straight six with a 4 speed. Doesn't like going faster than 40. It'll get me between the farms but I'm on and off again about whether to repower it so I can run farther afield with it. But there's a part of me...

    The questions people ask

I like your answer. Next time I'm asked how many head of cattle I have, I'll answer with "How many do you need?"

    Texas calf loss during blizzard?

I was lucky with a dozen calves under 2 months old. A couple only 2 weeks old. I was worried but no losses here either. Brangus herd. They just hunkered down mostly in the woods. Temps down to zero as well. Second snow of this winter. Snow is not very common here. All my tanks, and...

    bull meat

We slaughtered a 12 month old bull last year. (Brangus). Best beef I ever tasted. Maybe not apples to apples with a 3 year old i guess. He was weened late at 9 months and creep fed for 3 months. Hung for 28 days. Butcher decided when to cut/package by the amount of mold on the carcass...

    If...

I wish I had asked my wife to marry me sooner. Took her on a 5 year test drive before I bought in completely. Thought at the time my job and lifestyle weren't conducive for a long term relationship. Didn't change much but 33/38 years later she's still hanging in there.

    Lurkers

I admit to being a lurking member. I'm pretty new at this stuff so lurking to learn until I have something of value to contribute. Small herd (19 head), less than 2 years experience. Just made a first sale of 3 young bulls which was a learning experience in itself. Lots of great info here.

    What's something you've done, 99% of us haven't?

No real stress. Had life support ( O2 and Battery for CO2 scrubbers) for up to 2 days. Had communications with the surface so I knew help was on the way. Tried to catch a nap. Got pretty cold though.

Lol. Would have to have dug a hole in the sea bed.

    What's something you've done, 99% of us haven't?

I've been to 1998' deep in a one man submarine. Got stuck there for almost 12 hrs. Couple of other deep water adventures but that was one of the most memorable. - background as a commercial diver in the offshore oil field.
