What have you done lately that made you question your intelligence?

Just now saw this. Ya know, with the arsenal you are amassing, you could possibly take up chain saw juggling. That could possibly be a good post to add to this thread? 😜

A big shout out to my Amish neighbors

Interesting. A bit surprising to me, but I did point out there is quite a bit of variation among the Amish. The rubber tires aren't seen within the Amish up here though. Interesting to know.

A big shout out to my Amish neighbors

You will see Amish use tractors, but note the tires (more subtle than the tractor) they do NOT have rubber. I mentioned 'nuances' in my prior post. This is one of them. You are highly unlikely to see Amish use rubber tires or likely any rubber product. They have a belief that the rubber product...

A big shout out to my Amish neighbors

Sounds stange, doesn't it @greybeard. You have to get to know and understand the Amish as a whole. That 'stereotype' you are thinking of does widely exist within the Amish community as a whole, but the Amish are divided up into, and I forget the division names, parishes, sects...

coffee is ready, have a cup

When I was in grad school, a fellow student told me a story about coffee. Some ranchers were gathered for something and she was asked to make coffee. She brought the coffee to the table in coffee cups. The rancher that had asked her to make the coffee took one look at the coffee, pulled a penny...

When you put it that way......

What have you done lately that made you question your intelligence?

Case in point. I needed to change the oil in my car today (I thought). Went to wal-mart to get oil. Had to text wife from wal-mart to check what oil I had available at home (don't want to add any more goods than I need to to my growing stockpile at home. Looked up oil filter - in the store - for...

I'm glad that it's not just me that does stuff like this.

    Southern US cold snap?

I think I'll pay the tolls in WV on the interstate instead of taking the backroads bypasses this trip (Monday) from the WV/OH border to Columbia, SC. Those back roads get unpredictable in weather like this. It will be a total of $14.25 for anyone wanting to donate.

I've moved, and I have a real job (still no haircut)

Ops! I hate it when that happens!

Red meat and dairy products may support our body's ability to infiltrate and fight off cancer cells.

I don't think you are paranoid. It was looking like some threads were missing comments to me yesterday. My guess would be the forum needs to be checked for viruses. There were definitely more than 12 comments in this thread the other day.

You have to read through the article to get to the line about the neighbor's wife. They headline is only half of this crazy story. This other half is just as bizarre.

Note that is says: TOO MUCH. I said this earlier and I stand by it: All things in Moderation.

It's not talked about much, but the instances of this aren't unheard of by any stretch. I've found a few cases of this in my genealogy (my tree) several generations back and I have a 4th or 5th cousin I found in my research whose parents, still living, are 1st cousins.

How do you call the cows

With cattle being prey animals, I could go into details about water placement and presentation and how that has an impact on cattle stress levels and daily gains. I won't do that here though as we don't need another rabbit hole. I could start a new thread if someone wants me to though.
