What have you done lately that made you question your intelligence?

During one of the small ice storms we had this year, my Mom busted the door handle on her van. No biggie, ordered one on Ebay, swung by Sunday morning to swap it out. I opened the door, pulled the door panel, removed the handle and went looking for the new one, couldn't find it. Never once...

    Your everyday knife

$5 Ozark Trail. The good ones get lost, I've had this one for 4 years now.

    Laptop computer suggestions.

Same here. Had several Satellites and still typing on one now. Sucks that they don't make them anymore. I guess you'll have to explain to me how a $1000+ laptop is the best bang for your buck.

    Boots for snow weather

Growing up in Minnesota, Sorel Glaciers are what everyone used in the winter. At the time there was no better winter boot made.

    Wood chipper

The small chipper that I used a few years ago didn't make real fine chips. Was more like garden mulch. If you want good, fine chips, find someone that processes a lot of rough sawn lumber with a planer and see if they'll give you some of their chips.

    Tractors...

Pretty much. There's some nuance. A guy can spend himself broke for sure. But there's a lot of good used equipment out there that isn't going to depreciate much, while not the best investment, it isn't just throwing money away.

    Tractors...

I'm not really partial to colors. I look at the condition and price of a particular tractor over what brand it is and do some research on the internet, you'll find a consensus about it on forums and stuff if it's a problem child. Isn't much for good dealers of any sort in this area, I do most...

    Early Winter?

Summer is still holding on here (MO). Had a couple nice days last week but we're looking at 90s every day this week. It's been cooler at night and the humidity is down so it's not too bad, but still warm for mid-September.

    Off grid setups

Solar and lithium batteries are the way to go if you want it to be feasible on paper. No type of fuel is going to be cost effective running your average household's electrical needs. If you just want backup power that's a different matter, an LP/gas generator and a sizable tank is the way to go...

    Stock Market

It's up 50% in three months, so I would say now is not the time to buy. If you do, DCA in slowly. There will likely be a pretty big dip right after the dividend. Long term I think the company is looking good. I really like the idea of going straight to consumer. Ford told the dealers to keep...

    Roadkill Garage

I like it. It gets kinda repetitive though. Fix up a car, burn rubber, and stash it back in the weeds for a few years. Not something I wait for but I pop in every few months and binge the episodes I've missed. Finnegan and Dulcich are entertaining for sure.

Does anyone know anything about Antique Car Values

I'd say 5-8k. Possibly more depending on the configuration (2dr, convertible, wagon, engine, etc.)

    Its hot

Same here in MO. Temps all in the mid 90s through the extended forecast. It's usually hot in June but this is more like late July-August weather. We got off pretty easy the last couple years with cooler summers, guess we're paying for it this year.

    It hurts..

Multiflora rose is my least favorite. You can work around big thorns carefully and aside from the occasional poke, can get by without much trouble. The rose bush thorns are sharp and curved like a cat's claw so they snag and dig in, there's no way to work around them.

    It hurts..

I swear those thorns have some kind of poison in them. Wherever I've been poked swells and hurts like crazy.

Timeless Fence for Sheep and Cattle?

I haven't heard that. I suppose it's possible though. The posts I put up 10 years ago are no fuzzier than they were to start with. Probably depends on what kind of shape they're in from the get go. They do suck to cut and handle but once they're in that's about as maintenance free as it gets...

Timeless Fence for Sheep and Cattle?

Those fiberglass sucker rods make dang good posts. Probably the closest thing to a "timeless" electric fence there is. Drill holes in them, run HT smooth and tie the wire directly to the posts. I have yet to find an insulator that works as well as that does.

Cattle people/ farmers are getting old.

I've read some studies that say millennials are harder working, or at least as hard working as generations before them. I don't really think the differences are as large as they're made out to be. Life's a **** sandwich, eat or starve. It hasn't been easy for anyone. Investment firms buying...

Timeless Fence for Sheep and Cattle?

I don't believe PVC is "timeless" when left in the sun. I have used many of those white plastic "UV resistant" insulators and they turn into crumbling junk after a few years. I'm also very against electric as a perimeter fence. It is certain that at some point you will have an electric...

    Inflation and spending habits

That pretty well puts into perspective how bad wages haven't kept up. $1.65 times 2080 hours in a year, $3,432. Could buy three cars. The average salary today might buy one, and that would be considered a "good" living by most. Cars haven't gotten much more expensive, we just make way less money.
