    Winter calvers inhumane

I avoid January and Febuary calving. I live in the snowbelt of western NY and we just get too much snow. Late March is when I like to see the first calves arriving. It's still cold but snowfall on the ground has usually subsided enough for the little guys to get around.

    Angus Suck!

This is an incomplete poll, it needs a third vote option which should read "Both a and b are correct"

Take a look at this bull

I'm a novice compared to some of these guys but I do run Herefords and he looks like a good match for my cows. I'd use him if the price was right. Decent growth and no glaring faults IMO.

    Young Hereford Bull

My Hereford bulls have carried their jewels pretty high as well and it's never been an issue for me. They get the job done without any issues.

    Black Baldy Calves

The baldies last week were the only thing that brought more than my Herefords for a given weight in beefers.

    Hereford cow (stay or go?)

Good looking cow. If she's on your possible cull list then you have a pretty nice herd. She'd be welcome here, I like the good milkers.

    Favorite Hereford Herd

My favorite herd of Herefords is my own :). Course I'm just a small timer and don't have big fancy sales but they are still my favorite.

How much does a good bull cost?

Can get an acceptable bull around here for $1500. There are some more expensive but whether or not they are any better is up for debate. Some are and some aren't.

    Pros and Cons of Herefords.

I must have some sort of super breed of Herefords then cause I've seen none of these "cons" in my cows.

    Pros and Cons of Herefords.

I keep my Herefords around cause I feel sorry for them. If i sent them anywhere else people would just butcher them instead of putting up with all the problems they cause.

Need some advice on a bull (no pictures)

Yea I'm positive they are scurs....can grab hold of them and they are clearly not attached to to bone. 88lb BW....do not know his weaning weight and the only weight I have of him is with a tape....he measures at 1650lb's. This would make him about 600lb's smaller than JJJ Victor but he's...

Need some advice on a bull (no pictures)

Ok went to look at a bull the other day. Bull is son of JJJ Victor....momma was unregistered Hereford. He is about 20 months old and is a pretty decent looking bull cept for one thing.....he has scurs. They are small....only about 2 inches long and stubby. None of my cows(straightbred...

    what breed to pick

Cant go wrong with Hereford or Angus. You can run them as purebreds/straightbreds and do ok at the market or you can cross them with darn near anything and end up with a decent animal. Can also cross them with each other and make some black baldies which seem to be the hot combo right now.

    opinions on this bull

My thoughts too. Looks like he's got some muscle but he needs some excercise  .
