    horses on coastal grass

As far as having plenty to eat, I would think the horse should be fine on 100 acres of grass and plenty of water. The only thing I would worry about is injury or sickness. Things can happen pretty quick and if no one is there to care for the animal, then you could come back to a pile of bones.

    Do You Invoice Your Sales?

Designed one using Microsoft word processing. From what I perceive, most customers want some type of receipt and I like to have something for our records.

Update: Could you recommend a smaller type car with good gas

Our 2 vehicles: 2004.5 Dodge Ram 2500, 2x4, 5.9 Cummins Diesel, 6spd manual - avg 18.5 mpg daily driving 2006.5 VW Jetta TDI Diesel, 5 spd manual - averaging 35-37 mpg right now, but it isn't broken in yet. Hoping to get in the mid 40's mpg. I really like the Jetta diesels, only drawback...

    Direct sales to customers

You can keep frozen meat in a freezer for quite some time - at least a year. The amount of hamburger from any animal depends on how you tell the processor to cut up the animal. From a 500 lb hanging weight steer we recently processed, we got about 125 lbs of hamburger, in addition to the...

    HOT

I believe we are worse now than we were last year. This time last year, at least we had some water left in the tanks. Last tank dried up the other day. Had to rescue a calf stuck in the mud up to it's belly. I closed the gate on that pasture until it dries up completely or we get some rain...

    Fence Cost

I think pasture size could very well make a difference. The smaller the pasture, the more the animals will be pushing on a fence. As far as pasture size goes, I think it varies greatly depending on where you are at in the state. In West and South Texas, the pastures are proabably bigger...

    Fence Cost

I would consider the following a good, solid, normal fence down here: I like a 6 strand barbed wire fence or a net wire field fence with 1 strand barbed wire on top. All posts are T posts, 10'-12' apart and H posts on the ends are constructed of pipe and concreted. In case of fire, this type...

    Red Flag Warning

On my way home from Graham yesterday, I saw a pretty big fire outside of Graford. It was in those hills around Possum Kingdom lake, which looked like some rough country to access.

What price will you pay ?

Good question! I'm interested to see what everyone has to say on this subject also. So far we have paid $60 bale for all the coastal rounds we have bought this year, and we still need more. Personally, I wouldn't pay much more than that before I started culling hard, but I just work here, I...
