    Pintos are also known as horticulture beans. Makes a beautiful speckled bean. Go fresh and you’ll never go back.

    imo, the best variety is called pink eye purple hull. The peas grow upright and are easier to pick for an old man like me , plus full pods with good size peas and great flavor.

    Canned beans are okay in a desperate pinch but, if you have ever had fresh pintos beans or purple hull peas shelled and cooked straight out of the garden then, in my opinion you probably haven’t ever lived. I raise a good size garden and probably 90% of it is dedicated to pintos and purple hulls.
