Who's up for a buffalo hunt?

Dave, there's someone up near Troy, ID that may be doing that. Every year the Troy Lions Club sells raffle tickets for a buff hunt at a ranch up there -- $5/ticket. I've been buying them for years; bet I've spent $300 on tickets. No buff yet!

    Big Horn Sheep

Idaho had big issues w/ the wild sheep a few years ago -- lost a lot of them. Not sure how or if that was ever figured out or resolved.

    Local wildlife . . .

Locally, they really are a PIA. Like herding cats to move them where they ought to go.

    Local wildlife . . .

This bunch of elk starts wintering on a neighbor's property along the river every Fall. They cause a lot of damage to local hay fields, hay barns, and fences. The state wildlife dept.'s plan for many years is that -0- elk should be in this area, but that one neighbor has pretty much protected...

    Startin 2 strut

Too far! We had a bunch of young turkeys in here for a couple months over the winter -- think they were last year's hatch -- and, yes, we put out feed for them. In our part of the state, the population is just starting to make a come-back, so no season for them here. Once they figured out the...

    2015 hunting season

The orange vest was close at hand, Dave, but everything happened too fast. I think I was clearly marked in all the red. Yes, should have had the orange!

    2015 hunting season

I have a couple pastures that I get to fix fence every spring. Normal movement they aren't too hard on fence but someone starts shooting at them and they are going to tear down a bunch of fence. My shot came as they were trying to move them uphill/out of the hay ground, and they busted...

    2015 hunting season

Well, I can't shoot dozens of elk, nor can anyone else on damage tags. Had un-filled tag, and was able to use it for this one, via the neighbors. The Master Hunter program guys have extra opps, but not the rest of us.

    2015 hunting season

Sky: Sky, the damage tags get awarded BECAUSE of the damage. These elk are migratory. They've been in/out of the neighborhood several times in the last few months -- grazing/tearing up the hay ground. When the big snows came, they started into the stacks. My damage tag came via neighbors...

    2015 hunting season

Major issue here, Sky, with elk vs. hay. They've been in and out a few times over the last few months, and weren't doing too much damage out in the hay fields, even with very low temps, until the heavy snow came. Then it got bad, and the stacks got hit. We've got some fence to fix with...

    2015 hunting season

Filled my elk tag today (damage tag) in our big pasture when about 75 head came through our fence. Had to wait for them to string out a little to get a good shot at one. Probably 2 yrs. cow. One 80-100 yd. shot -- lungs -- with a scoped Ruger 308, 150 gr. Remington Corelock round. Got a pic...

    Bugeling has begun . . .

There's a bunch that usually hang pretty close to us fall to spring, Kenny -- one neighbor has about 350 acres of hay ground + river frontage, and doesn't allow any hunting. They've learned "the safe place", but our place is on the path if they're coming in or going out. The big bull that goes...

    Bugeling has begun . . .

Have been hearing some elk bugeling from afar early in the morning for several days. Saw the next door neighbor feeding his horses as I went out at about 8:00 AM, and he said a bunch of 75 came through just after daylight, split, 1/2 went across his place and 1/2 just north of our fence on the...

    2015 Ellensburg Rodeo . . .

Nesi, the WCM event is done several different ways. Some places they've got the cows in the bucking shoots with a rope already around the neck, couple guys on a team & at the chute, all cows are released at once, and it's all a wrestling match from the ground. A turd throw all happening at the...

    2015 Ellensburg Rodeo . . .

. . . Labor Day weekend, same as every year, in conjunction with Kittitas County Fair. Great rodeo; one of the best in the country. I can think of few things I'd rather do than watch a good rodeo. Just did Round 2 of E-burg Rodeo. I clap and cheer for the fast times and the 8 second rides. I...

Anyone here (Caustic?) smart on value of muzzleloaders?

I've got a pretty fancy one I'd like to get an estimated value on. Have already talked to Kenny Thomas and 3-Way, who claim muzzleloader ignorance. Please private message me. Thx.
