    Waterfowl Question

Thank you all for your comments. I thought that it may have been a trumpeter, but I was not certain. The swan took off about a week ago and has not been back since. It was really neat to see while it was here.

    Waterfowl Question

For as long as I can remember, we have normally had anywhere from half a dozen to fifty ducks on our ponds at any one time during the winter months. I grew up listening to my grandmother tell of when she would see ducks by the hundreds on our stock ponds. The numbers would vary from year to...

    2016-2017 Hunting Season

I shot this buck almost two weeks ago. He is a 9 point, but is really big bodied. He was about 160 lbs field dressed. When I shot him, I clipped one of his lungs. He ran about 100 yards and then crashed into the creek. I waited half an hour before I started looking for him. As I walked to the...

    2015 hunting season

I saw a massive 10 point last night; it was my last opportunity to take a buck for the year. He was on the other side of the fence from me on the neighbor's property. He never jumped the fence onto our property, so I didn't shoot. I saw him for about 5 seconds before he disappeared, but he was...

Killing deer. What do you use?

I've used a .243 to kill deer. It really gets the job done.

    One and Only

Those are both very good bucks.

    White-tailed Buck

Thanks Kingfisher. I am glad to be a member on these boards. There is definitely no guarantee that I will see him again. After looking through the pictures that I took last year while I was pig hunting, I saw this buck twice. He was a large 12 point last year. It seems like some deer really move...

    Name That Critter

That looks too heavy in the body to be a bobcat. The bobcats here are mostly leg with ears that are more pointy than the one in the photo. I have seen a mountain lion roaming the cliffs at our place about 2 or 3 years ago, so they are in the area.

    White-tailed Buck

I was driving through the pasture when I saw him; I did not have a gun, only a camera. As much as I would like to shoot this buck, I would rather have him pass on his genetics for a while and use a tag on a deer that needs to be culled from the gene pool.

    White-tailed Buck

I saw this buck with a doe this morning. He paid no attention to me at all. He is at least a 13 pointer. I saw a similar buck last year, but he was nowhere near as wide as this one. I hope that I will be able to find one of his sheds this spring.

    Urban Bucks

I haven't seen bucks that big in an urban environment. I did see quite a few mule bucks that were that size up in the Rockies of Colorado.

biggest deer taken this 2013-2014 season

I saw this buck three times last winter. I saw him twice at the beginning of the hunting season, but I didn't have a gun. I didn't see him for three more months. I heard that the neighbors took a big buck, and I thought that he was the one they shot. Three months later, I saw this buck again and...

Somehow they know when you are unarmed

I hate it when that happens! Over a year ago, I drove up on a boar wallowing in one of our ponds. I got within thirty yards and all he did was walk off casually.

    HELI-HOG'N

    Great video.

    Photoshopped?

It looked like he was more worried about his hat coming off than being gored by the elk! If he had any common sense he would have not been that close to the elk to begin with.

    Feral Pigs

I have seen them in all kinds of weather. Rain, wind, or sun; I have hunted them with success. Although, when it snows they tend to be in the brush until it stops.

Spring must finally be getting close

I saw a group of about 50 Sandhill Cranes today. I heard them all throughout the day. I think/ hope winter is over.

Spring must finally be getting close

We had a pair of Canada geese fly through this morning. First ones I have seen in a year. They were flying low. They never seem to stay long in our area.

Caught on Trail Camera in KY

The mountain lion my sister and I saw was in the same location in both sightings. It was on a very rocky cliff, problem is that it is within 150 yards of the house.

Caught on Trail Camera in KY

It looks authentic. I have not seen a black panther, but we have mountain lions. I saw a mountain lion a year ago and my sister saw one within the last 6 months. I have seen their tracks on a neighboring property. They were the size of my hand!
