    I don’t use low birthweight on my longhorn heifers. 95 or so. Minimum weaning weight 650 no problems. Heifer bull I tried once had longhorn size calves 400$ for bred pretty damn good. Sold some opens here for 1200. Granted shape wise they were excellent.

    They wean very close to next calf save colostrum for new babies seems to be instinct. Some just don’t care good hormone release Some allow only 1-2 quarters. Nature doesn’t allow close calving season end up 10 months a year after time (yes experience.)

    PB longhorn cow with 1/2 Hereford calf at 2.5 months old. Cow is big around 1800 was impressed only Hereford calf I’ve had with no white face

    As long as they are clean and dry I just watch them. I have one cow every year has massive bull calf (14 in a row) calf has it every year clears up in 2-3 days. With twins I’d pay more attention to the second one born chances are it got the worst of it if it looks shaky etc I give them a 1/2...
