    Bull Age and Rotation ?

I myself like the premise; and have used and recommended it. Run first bull for a heat cycle or less (15 days) and swap. Young bull gets some practice but isn't task with being the bread winner for lack of a better term. Instead of running bulls together, them battling and losing them they...

    Ideal Nurse Cows ?

Be conscious of johnnes; It's not worth putting the entire beef herd at risk for a nurse cow. Cows would have to be tested for me to be interested.

    Angus Heifer bull ideas

EF Commando http://genex.crinet.com/beef/index.php? ... 71&lang=EN Schiefelbein Effective http://genex.crinet.com/beef/index.php? ... 40&lang=EN Growth, moderate mature frame with milk in the mid 20's. Granted neither are at .9 of accuracy either

    "Proven Calving Ease" Bull ?

RBB I took for granted the heifer was an F1; she's half angus breed angus meaning the calf is 3/4 angus and only receives half the hybrid vigor of the F1 which is 100% hybrid vigor. You could argue those % are diluted somewhat by breeding up of continental breeds with angus bases but that's...

    "Proven Calving Ease" Bull ?

Was it born unassisted? Did the heifer go over her a.i. Date? I know that you know that she is half the equation and the 50% hybrid vigor May of influenced the calf size as well as longer gestating gelb.

    Hoover Dam and Domino 3027

Can we define moderate? 5? 6? Really windy is a great heifer bull that will no doubt keep your frame up as he is 59 in. in the sire directory for mature hip.

    AI Sires for Heifers

I think it depends as much upon the heifer as it does the bull. I don't know of at this time a tremendous amount of PB sim bulls that I'd bred heifers to but several simangus bulls that I would and really wouldn't worry. Of course there are many Angus bulls that I'd breed heifers to for CE and...

    AI Sires for Heifers

When I'm selecting a bull for heifers I'm looking for proven CE. Alot of the bulls listed above would scare the bjeezes out of me if my heifers were bred to them. If not because they are known not to be terribly CE but because they aren't all to proven. Over all if sticking with Gateway...

    AI Order

That son that is at select is clean of all known defects or he wouldn't be marketed as so. If you want to use him you don't need to worry with NH or AM. Hope all goes as I would particularly like to see pictures of those In Force calves. Gibbs is doing an excellent job this year of procuring...

    A first

Deal with several a year. Klebsealia (sp) is one of the bacteria we isolated from an infected navel. Once caught we treated with oxytet as it is sup to it. I dont know why we have so many as we calve on clean pasture we cows in more than acceptable bcs.

Which of these Angus Bulls do you like better?

Accelerated Genetics Black angus or simi/angus Cow Maker?

How big of a cow do you want? I believe he is somewhere alittle shy of a six. Regardless of color his cattle are very good. Ive seen his mother in production as well daughters and they are good.

Accelerated Genetics Black angus or simi/angus Cow Maker?

Ill second 701t. His daughters are moderate, fleshy, and good uddered. With simmental and red angus on the same base now it shows how superior of a carcass sire he is as well.

How soon can you tell if a cow is bred

Most vets won't call them until 35 days

    White Blood Cells in Semen

Could their problem be vesculytis (sp)? Are the bulls being pushed hard to gain on a high energy ration?

Fall or spring calving in the south

I'm finding that I like like January. Those cattle can be carried fairly cheap, calves are large enough to eat grass when it gets here, generally still cool enough when the bull goes in that breed up is better than if calving in march or april, hay consumption isn't to high as those cows are...

    Cow feeding calve!

Yes, if not this cycle would be carried out to long to be profitable. You should generally give her 45-60 days dry before she has her next calf so they she can redevelop those secretory cells which had died.
