    fence tips and tricks

If you're using hedge (osage orange) it doesn't matter about lasting in the ground. I can show you some hedge post that have been in the ground 75 years that I know of. They do not rot. They are as hard as steel. Trim the trees/limbs so you have 4" or 5" for line post and get as big of one as...

    HD Smart Charger ?

Steve, if your reference to repair function is a desulfate function, I wouldn't buy a maintainer without it. About three years ago I had an Interstate 12 volt auto battery that wouldn't start a 4 cyl Ford industrial engine. After having it on the regular charger for a couple of days it showed...

    PVC Pasture Water Lines ?

Steve, maybe you have a Reeves Wiedeman, or a Winnelson nearby. If not check online for a wholesale plumbing supply, or ask a plumber friend for his supplier's name. I was recently looking for a flare to threaded IP coupling for 3/4" soft copper for a propane line. Took some digging at various...

    Bending plexiglass

Greybeard, what did you use for heat? Would a heat gun when moved quickly over the area be enough to soften it, or would it crack if not enough heat, and bubble if too hot?

    Bending plexiglass

Has anyone tried to heat 1/4" plexiglass and bend it to 90 degrees, or at lest to 60 deg? I have a piece about 55" long and want to put a bend across the entire length about 1 1/2" from the edge. I'm thinking some nichrome wire and a power supply with the plexiglass laying over the wire on a...

    TP shortage, again?

jltrent, here's a quote from the comments on the link you posted. Post dated 3/13. Thought it was entertaining! " Don't know about Stihls and Scags...but groc store TP bare again. Think people'd figure out it's not a crap your pants virus by now."

    Gap assist

Here's what I use. Find a piece of Osage Orange (or Oak I suppose) the length that suits your arms and weight for the lever. Needs a short yoke as a lever point. Pretty simple, easy and no time to make and no cost.

    Sealing stock tank?

I got the Through The Roof product in a qt. container. Had a metal roof with a slight slope on a commercial building and leaking. I tried several products, sealed around some of the screws as a last resort. After about four attempts of doing something after a rain I called a professional! He...

    Cold weather tips

Black Diamond coal slag, used for blasting metal, makes a good traction product. We have a U.S. Minerals plant near the power plant, and the county buys it bulk to put on hilly roads in the winter.

If you have brush, saplings, wild berries and briars I try a Piranna toothbar. They work on small stuff real quick and easy.

    WD40

The product was mentioned on another thread and I didn't want to hijack it. I have two or three cans of WD40 with the latest flip up style of spray nozzle that are over half full of fluid but won't spray. I try to always spray with the can in the upright position. At $7 for the taller can it...

    Water in the hole

I'n not an "expert cattleman" but have installed a few automatic waterers. You probably have ground moisture seeping the the hole, and if it is it shouldn't be a problem as long as you're below frost line. One thing I'd add. Why not just move the waterer a few feet away from your hydrant, and...
