There is a young man in my area who has a few jersey milk cows solely for grafting cheap orphan calves on to. Pretty good idea I thought if you have a few minutes a day to put to it.

I've been saying the same thing, with $4,000+ an acre pasture, $60 hay, $15 cubes, $5 T posts, $100 wire.... $1,200 for a calf ain't much money

This is true, the chart graybeard posted shows a jump of 1 million head from 2014 to 2015. So what else caused prices to drop so quickly? Seems I seen a chart somewhere that showed that drop correlating with the county of origin labeling change.

My opinion is worth what it costs, but if I was you I would sell in May lol. Just my luck alone says they will go down July cause that's when I'll have a good number ready

I can't help but wonder how long lived these prices will be? I wonder how much impact imported beef will have this summer.

#2 is a quarter ear or more, hereford, off colors and singles. Horned is roping cattle. #1 is the absolute best of the sell and a man would be wise not to count on those prices
