If in doubt, just get one longer than the one you have. Its in constant tension, so it doesn’t take many threads to hold it

Ford truck update? What is it?

Its simply trying to update the software. It needs connected to wi-fi to do so. No different than your phone needing to be connected to wi-fi for system updates.

    Trailer Floor

Adding more steel supports when I had my floor out was the cheapest piece of mind I’ve ever bought. Especially near the sidewalls since thats where boards rot first.

    1530 Deere

As far as the o ring, the one on my 2550 is a PITA as well. I use just a little bit of bearing grease to hold it in place.

    Champion Power Equipment

I've had one of their generators for about12 years. No issues so far other than replacing the pull start rope.

    Baler recommendations wanted

It certainly sounds like it. Seems like something has to be wrong, but you’d be smart to just trade it or sell it outright and buy something cheaper yet more reliable. My old Vermeer SI has never even thought of plugging. I suppose it will one day, but I’ve rolled some monsterous wind rows and...

    Cordless drills

I’ve drilled a lot of fairly big holes through steel with my Dewalt. I always tighten by hand. The only time it might slip is when the tip pokes through the material and the cutting edge grabs. About 10 years now and so far it still holds good. I will say, the fit and finish of my Milwaulkee...

    clamp on bucket forks

Lots of people like them. I borrowed a pair and struggled. I couldn’t see them through the bucket. So when I would tilt the bucket down to get the forks level with the ground, it was easy to go too far, I ended up ripping the welded brackets right off of them. However, if you have a float...

    magnetic block heater

A 1500w circulating heater has my tractor warm and cranking like its summer time in under an hour, closer to half an hour. Without it, starting it under 40 isn’t happening.

    Trailer Floor

One of my biggest fears for some reason. When I had my floor out to replace I also added in more steel supports. Now the greatest space the wood spans is 9”.

    Used Farm Equipment Values

My neighbor went to an auction this weekend to watch a Deere 7330 sell. Exactly like the one he bought brand new for just under $70k about 10 years ago. The one that sold had a few more hours. If I recall, it went for $130k. It doubled its value after 10 years of use.

    Battery brands for pickup

I think its the lead plates that break down over time from heavy vibration. Thats one of the main differences with marine starting batteries, heavier lead plates since boats take a beating from the waves.

    Battery brands for pickup

There have only been three battery manufacturers for at least 20 years, but that doesnmt mean the batteries are the same. Battery makers build batteries to the specs they are paid to make them, so they all make very cheap batteries and top quality batteries. I’ve had good luck with Walmart...

    Hay Equipment question

Is the dealer that "went over" the baler the same place that rebuilt the mower? Really sounds like the issue stems from the T post incident and perhaps a poorly done rebuild?

    Electromagnetic drill press

I think you're correct. I wish I could justify one, they sure are handy.

    Baler Knot

If one of the needles has a deep groove, you should be able to adjust it to get the "setting" within the spec called out in the manual. I was having a similar issue years ago and adjusting the needles fixed it. I've never heard of poly specific knotters?

    1ton vs 3/4ton truck shopping

I pull a 30’ 5th wheel camper with a 3/4 ton. No issues. If you go the bumper pull route, you want/need a weight distribution hitch no matter what truck you have because of the tongue weight.

    Grader ID?

I think there are a lot of small time shops that build them, many don’t have any particular name or model. Might be tough to ID for anyone not in your area. I know my neighbors have their own “model” they designed, build, and sell around the state. Its fairly similar to that one, though I’m sure...

Loading Hay in Field w/ Spike or Arm Bed

Yeah, the one in that pic is way higher than I would consider “safe”. But I knew someone that used one to load bales onto a deckover trailer, it worked well. Of course he didn’t lift the bale until he was backed up to the trailer.
