    Fungal Infection

Thanks...I'll buy some today and get it over with, lol. Some of the spots are already regrowing hair but two of them aren't so that's what I'll do. Thanks again.

    Curly hair

I did that on a couple of steers that were curly all over and it worked wonders, 4 days of fogging lasted about two weeks for me and it doesnt hurt the hair if repeated like the straightener that Sullivan's sells.

    Halter Breaking Heifer

You need to either tie them high enough that they won't try to lay down or low enough that they can without hurting themselves. But be sure to STAY WITH THEM WHEN THEY ARE TIED and make sure that you can cut the rope if she gets into real trouble.

    North Florida Fair

Just got back from a great show. A heifer out of my herd that I fitted won her class and (commercial) and a heifer that I fitted got supreme female (commercial). I'm happy for the kids mostly though. Wish I had some pics.

    Show Prospects

I like the second heifer looks better right now but you never know. They're nice, good luck!!!

    Fat cow

hasn't had any feed but the occasional oat to keep the herd gentle since she was shown.

    Fat cow

I've got a 5 year old brangus cow that has been obese or borderline since weaning. Even in 1/4 acre of Tifton 9 bahia grass with her calf she stayed fat. Her calves have all been easy keepers as well and her oldest just calved and is already visibly gaining again with startling speed. I swear...

    Protein tubs

Just bought a sweetlix tub for $48 and began feeding coastal and peanut hay. Only the former show heifers with calves got the tub (9) and the calves love the tub and are munching on the peanut hay. Even the youngest (3 weeks) is eating hay. Cows are also cleaning off the pasture as we are...

    Callie Bermuda grass

I'm in NW Florida and was wondering if anyone knew if I would be able to grow it this far north. We get a few hard freezes in the winter but very few days below 30 degrees.

At the risk of sounding ignorant

We have lots of angus and charolais with some herford and red angus plus some brahma influence around me. My land adjoins Southern Cattle Company, one of the big angus and char ranches.

At the risk of sounding ignorant

I'm in north florida and was wondering the other day why we don't have any shorthorns and very few maine anjou in the southeast. I assume that shorties have too much hair, but is there another reason? I know what happens whe one assumes so that's why I'm asking y'all.

    Livestock judging team

Hey yall, I'm putting together a livestock judging team for our high school FFA and was wondering if you could post profile, rear, front, or top pics to this topic for practice for the kids. I'm sure someone else would find it useful as well. Thanks in advance!!!

    help grow your soup

I just got back from the national convention, It was awesome. We placed thirty-first in horse judging. Our team's high score was 34th individually and I was 11 points behind her. I was 97th, 66 kids within 11 points of each other. It was really close and we had a great time, a little cold...

    Thoughts on this Simmy bull?

He's very nice. Thick topped and deep. Maybe a little more length before he finishes growing would be nice but he's gorgeous. Do I see a little toeing out in his front in the last pic, or is it just the way he's standing?

    Help with a steers' top

If you mean he's just narrow, there's not much you can do but if he dips, you need to grow as much hair there as possible and clip the rest of his back pretty short and longer behind the shouder. Also, JUDICIOUS us of leg builder (hair or fibers) may help if you do it right.

    How to get started showing...

I would find someone who shows cattle or raises show cattle and ask them for help. Most breeders are more than willing to help, especially if you buy from them. I'd find someone reputable who you can get along with through the teaching process. Most ag teachers could help or find someone who...

County fair's over and I miss my steer!

I can honestly say that I have shed very few tears over steers but I get choked up nearly every time. My first was actually the easiest because I didn't really think about him being 12 hours from being on the rail. I agree that you are not right if you're not affected in some way though.

Give me some opinions of this heifer.....

I understand thet she's her mama's first but, even so, I like to see a little more depth on my weanlings. Nice heifer though. Looks like a good bit of potential.
