    Transitioning to grass-fed

https://www.hayandforage.com/article-1956-legume-finished-beef.html Ongoing studies at Utah State University are demonstrating that spring-born cattle can be finished on legume pastures in a time frame similar to feedlot-finished cattle.

    Transitioning to grass-fed

I realize alfalfa does not replace grain in the grain finishing system. Guess what i am looking for is a grass-fed/grain combo for a lack of better term. I do not like the flavor of all grass finished beef at all, but not real crazy about a lot of fat either. Looking for some grain finished...

    Transitioning to grass-fed

I have Angus/Hereford cross. Not really going to try to finish grass only. just don't think it will work for me. But I am concerned about adding to much fat that is just trimmed off. Using Alfalfa as some grain replacement and as a supplement for low quality hay.

    Feeding 6-800lb butcher calves

I was feeding out a steer last year and had the same thing happen. Was feeding 15 lbs a day. I just cut him back to half that for about week, then slowly started to climb back up. He started cleaning it up again. Figured he got an upset gut.

    Fertilizer Prices

Other source wants 1500.00 for 24 ton. Plus, I would have to haul nobody delivers or spreads around here anymore. So, looks like nothing this year.

    Fertilizer Prices

What are prices for chicken litter in your area. Costing roughly $38 a ton here. To do 12 acres @ 2 ton an acre just cost of litter is $912.00 not including any trucking or spreading.

I agree on the 3 acres I planted I tilled about 3 inches to break up sod and to get good soil contact. Planted late in season due to no fall rain so germination. Went from warm to cold no fall this year. Going to try shallow till to terminate covers and replant. This is why I am doing small plot.
