    How much hay?

Thats not what he meant. Caustic meant that a cow needs 30 lbs total. 3 of those pounds contain all of the nutrients a cow needs. the other 27 fill the cow up (sort of as a filler) At least thats how I read it.

    How much Gain?

I wondered about that...... It didn't say anything on the feed tag, so I was just guessing. Thanks I re figured with it at 90% moisture and came up with 12.94% protein. The energy was what I was worried about. This ration would cost me $115 a ton. If I added alot of corn the cost would...

    How much Gain?

Hi Tom, No, I don't have a grinder, otherwise I would. I see how you got 12.7% protein. You used the As fed amounts. I believe to get the real protein amounts, you have to use only the actual Dry Matter amount. I assumed the protein pellet was 100% DM So.... 1 x 1.0= 1 lb protein 2.5 x .86...

    How much Gain?

Howdy, What kind of gain do you think I'll get if I feed a ration that consists of : 1 lb Protein pellet -------(40% protein) 2.5 lbs corn-------------(9% protein) (NEm .98 & NEg .67) (.86 DM) 4.5 lbs Alfalfa-----------(16% protein) (NEm .52 & NEg .18 ) (.85 DM) 6.2 lbs Grass...

    Bedding

I have always used wheat straw to bed with. I keep some square straw bales around just in case. When you need some just break one open and spread it around.

    automatic waterers

We use Ritchie waterers. The ones we have arn't heated. You just have to have enough cattle per hole. http://www.ritchiefount.com/

    Wheat Straw

Yep, we use it as a filler. Had some tested and it tested at 4% protein. The NEm was .1806 and the NEg was 0. Not good for much obviously. It just added a little more bulk to the ration.

    How do you load cattle?

I know how to load cattle, I was just wondering which method everyone else prefers. I use the whole back door, and back my trailer up at a right angle to my alley and use a crowding gate to pop em up into the trailer. I haven't used the small sliding gate much, the first trailer I used had...

    Squeeze chute operation

I always release the head gate then the squeeze. Most of them usually back to the rear of the chute then... zoom! away they go out the front. I like doing it that way because if I released the squeeze first, then they jerk around in the squeeze, ramming their head and soulders into the...

Any New Tennessee Questions For Me?

I think the Dukes were in Georgia, remember Boss and Rosco were trying to send Bo and Luke "up the river" to Atlanta. It was filmed in a couple places, California was one of them. Us Dukes fans wouldn't want to be associate with any of them tenneseans would we? :o ;-) :P

Thanks Starbaby, that is really some good advice. :) Calling the credit reporting organizations never occured to me either. Too bad there are people in this world that make you take precautions like that :x

    Stock trailers?

Quite a few folks around here use Travalong goosenecks. I like them, I don't remember if I've seen any Travalong bumper pulls though.

    Portable panels

Thanks, all! I think I'll start out with a few heavy panels for my alley and if I want some more panels for general stuff, I'll use the lighter. thanks again, Brett

    Portable panels

I'm young still ;-) I'm just wondering if they're heavy duty enough, or overkill.
