    Calving season 2020 for me

Do you think she can raise them both to weaning? Good looking crop so far. I am still in a holding pattern.

    Calving season 2020 for me

Boy howdy when it rains it pours. Nice looking crop to date. And yes there is some jealous under tones hidden in there.

    Calving season 2020 for me

Well I got a look at this years heifer and we have an udder starting to fill up. Should be soon now, I give her 7 to 10 days.

    Guess the sire...

Yup going with Hereford. With the head I was going to go that way anyhow. The pic with the belly tipped the scale.

    Brahma cross bull prospect

Sounds good. I look forward to hearing from you. Really like the idea of some tiger strips.

    Calving season 2020 for me

I am with you on heifers running over about 265 to 270. Last years single heifer ran close to 288 if I remember. She had a bull calf but we chose the right bull to breed her to. Little guy born at 48 lbs. By my best guess anyhow. Some of that was due to poor nutrition as hay was crap last year.

    Calving season 2020 for me

That is a beautiful beast. Keep up the good work/cook times. When I ate toast it was browned in the pan. Same thing with "perfect" browning from your toaster. Maybe it was the cook?

    Starting kids in 4H

We had great luck starting with chickens. I called them broilers little velociraptors. Sure was a good laugh watching the kids trying to get the feed in those "rain gutter" feed troughs with the chickens underfoot. They then chose their projects from year 2 and forward.

    Calving season 2020 for me

Mine are past due this year. Need the calves on the ground. It's about all that keeps me running these bovines most days.

    Brahma cross bull prospect

Still thinking on this. He would be covering Hereford cows. Any thoughts on the calf crop?

    Sale Results

That is a great deal. I have heard the Winnsboro is for sale. I hope not but have only heard the coffee shop gossip. The auctioneers do the Wood County Junior Livestock Auction for the FFA and 4h kids for a lot of years. I have been very happy with the money they have been able to get for the...

It is closer to Emory for you is it not? Just curious why Winnsboro. Nice check for you either way.

    Hereford Heifers

Both look good. I prefer the second one. Better neck placement, good feet and very rectangular body shape. She will have no problems grazing. The first one is a little more balanced and a better bottom line. Nice capacity on her.

    Brahma cross bull prospect

I wish I was a bit closer. Good looking bull.

    Tall Fescue in NE Texas

Noble foundation released one recently. My seed dealer said it won't persist this far south, like all of them. It will hang on for a few years and decline rapidly unless you have clay soils that are in a low area with good moisture.

It is OK to eat red meat.......

I asked my doctor once how much cholesterol was in the average forage. If eating red meat causes my "high" cholesterol where do the cattle get the high cholesterol from? Makes no sense to me.
