    Tarping Hay, rained this week

I have a bit of a dilemma. Our hay was baled a couple of weeks ago and I have been letting it cure. It is ready to store and I was planning on stacking it single file in rows on pallets and covering it with billboard tarps. Unfortunately, a pop up thunderstorm on Monday dropped 2.5 inches of...

    CPC Feeds

For clarification, I weighed them at the end of the day after they had eaten all day. This could have made a difference in the weight. My previous wait was around noon. Also, this feeds TDN is 68%. And yes, my scales get calibrated and I do a test weight prior to each weighing.

    CPC Feeds

I've been feeding the 14% CPC Developer for about a month now to some heifers I'm growing. They love the feed. Getting 5lbs/head per day and free choice hay (8% protein fescue hay). They are putting on 2-3 lbs/day with this mix. I've been really pleased with it.

    Soil Test Results

Just for clarity; the results above show the amount of nutrients in my soil per the soil lab. It tested Very High to Extremely High in all categories of K, Phos, Ca, Mg. The soil test recommended 1.5 tons of Lime per Acre now, and then fertilizing with 60-100 pounds of Nitrate at green-up. No...

    Mineral Research...TB

I've been doing a lot of research on minerals, trying to get my cattle on the right stuff so they can perform at a maximum level, while being cost effective. I have looked into multiple different minerals trying to find the right one for my area, but at a good price. I know folks have had great...

    Feed for Yearling Heifers

Hey guys- Have a few questions about feeding my yearling heifers. They are registered angus heifers, were just AI'd about one month ago, and doing fairly well. Want to keep them on an increasing plane of nutrition. I am feeding free-choice hay currently, its a bermuda/fescue mix that we baled...

    Selecting AI Angus Sire

I think I've about settled on Hoover Dam. Most of my heifers have a CED in the 3-8 range. Is Hoover Dam safe with his CED of 9? I think he's the best out cross genetically for my heifers, but want to avoid problems if possible. Thanks for all the advice!

    Selecting AI Angus Sire

Hey all- Wanted to get some opinions/help on selecting AI sires for my Angus heifers. I have 25 of them I will be breeding in December. 12 of them list EXT and Objective as grand sires (maternal side and paternal side), I have a few that are double shots of EXT, and the rest have Objective as...

    Opinions on this bull

Gizmom- Curious as to whether you bred to Charlo or not? They have a new video up on Accelerated Genetics...he sure is powerful appearing. Still seems to have a hitch in his rear legs. Would love to see some calves if anyone has any. Tyler

    New Angus Heifers

I'm located right in the middle. Just off I-65. We are going to breed this year to Connealy Capitalist and possibly Final Answer 0035 or Right Answer. Also considering Coleman Charlo. After that we are planning to collect a gray Brahman bull from V8 (380/6 son) that a friend of ours owns that...

    New Angus Heifers

Thanks guys. I'm in North AL, and the true F1 angus/Brahman cross is very popular as a brood cow here. We are planning to eventually breed with sexed semen to try and produce seed stock F1 heifers to sell. At least that's the current game plan...we'll have them Golden Certified with the ABBA...

    New Angus Heifers

Hey all- I'm new to the boards but have been reading here for quite some time. I've been around cattle my whole life, and we have dabbled in commercial cattle for the last 3 years. We have around 75 acres and have 3 registered brahman heifers, and about 15 commercial angus plus cows. We...
