    Glad this weekend is over.

I’m in KY, and I remember similar things from our visiting relatives from California, Florida, and Chicago when I was growing up. They were more subtle about it than what you described, but it was no trouble to tell that they thought they were smarter and everything was better where they were...

coffee is ready, have a cup

Thanks. I have slacked off in posting the last few months. School has been more demanding this year for some reason, and I haven’t payed as much attention to the Internet; however, I retired from teaching at the end of the school year, so maybe that will change.

Would you rather be a ......

I knew a heat & air guy once who was like that. His business had the reputation for being the best. He could solve any issue and instruct his guys how to do it the best way, but if he physically done anything, it looked like amateur work.

coffee is ready, have a cup

I’m 55, and my body has certainly changed over the years. I once had to force myself to get up, but 6:00am is usually the latest I can lie in bed now. Any later than that, and it feels like I’m lying on a rock. I’m usually awake at 4:30 to 5:00.

    HOW OLD?

I’m 55 and plan to retire from school this year. My grandfather farmed all his life. I got my first bottle calf in the 70s.

    401K thoughts?

I’m certainly no expert and in no position to be advising other people. I’m sure it depends on the company, but if I invest in solid companies now, I have confidence that it will be looking much better in a few years.

    401K thoughts?

I couldn’t say for sure, but I’m comfortable making purchases right now.

    401K thoughts?

What you just described is the winning strategy. I never understood people who sell when things tank and then buy back when things go up. Right now is the time to buy, but some look at you like you’ve lost your mind if you say that.

    Working dog thoughts

I can’t answer all your questions, but my grandfather bought a Border Collie pup in the 70s and trained it from an instruction manual. That was the smartest dog I ever saw. My grandfather would tell him to get the cows, and he would bring them in by himself. He was gentle with the cattle...

    Happy Thanksgiving

I can relate. I tested positive on Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so we just passed. My father spent the summer in the hospital due to Covid, so we didn’t want a repeat of that with anyone.

    Yellowstone season 5 last night

I don’t find season 5 as interesting so far, but It has time to improve. I’m looking forward to 1923. I loved1883; it was the best thing I had seen since Lonesome Dove.

Goodness gracious the great balls of fire has grown cold.

I really enjoyed The Killer. I liked his country songs too: a favorite was Middle Age Crazy.

    Cattle mutilations - Opinions, thoughts?

Same here. For whatever reason, I sometimes like to hear people’s ghost stories, but in my personal experience, I’ve never seen or experienced anything that even in my wildest stretch I could say was a ghost, alien, or bigfoot. I’ve seen a few humans that I wondered about, but turns out they...

    Cattle mutilations - Opinions, thoughts?

If people today could have seen my family kill hogs when I was growing up, that would be enough for some to head for the hills. Seeing us kids play with the unused body parts, such as seeing what objects the eyeballs would stick to, would probably bring in social services these days.

Do you live on the farm?

For people who aren’t accustomed to It, that’s probably exactly what it seems like. I live almost a mile back with no other houses. One of dad’s cousins with his young son and girlfriend from Chicago dropped by unexpectedly a few years ago. I was outside and looked about as rough as I could. I...

    Elvis

Mostly young skinny Elvis. The fat Elvis was shown briefly at the end, and my kids said for them, it was an emotional scene.

    Elvis

A couple of things exaggerated was during the 68 comeback, the colonel was running around puzzled all the time that Elvis wasn't doing Christmas songs; however, the premise that the colonel wanted a Christmas special and Elvis did not was accurate, and the special itself in black leather was...

    Elvis

I saw it. I agree; I thoroughly enjoyed it. The actor did a great job as Elvis. He didn’t come across as a silly imitator like some other actors have done with Elvis. He was believable. The flow and telling of the story between Elvis and the Colonel was done well. I’m a big Elvis fan...
