Great looking heifer (dam) and she gave you a dandy replacement!

    Buying a bull, confidently

Thanks Warren for the compliment. Customer satisfaction is number ONE if you want to stay in business. Problem with buying bulls from me, I don't raise any to breeding age. ALL bulls and steers are gone in October. So, all bull calves.

    Calving 2024

Dang, even your early calver had a BULL!!
  5. Jeanne - Simme Valley

    New generation

Bummer. You sure have had a run of bulls on your heifers! That always increases the probability of dystocia.

Post a pic of your bull

Don't like him in the 3rd pic. Shows how a picture can make or break a deal!!!

Post a pic of your bull

His nose/mouth looks weird. Oh shoot - Joy is going to tell us he has an underbite!!

LOL - and I thought I had big cows. I have ONE cow that will go 1900# - not a HEIFER! They look good (and HAPPY)

That's not FAT on those calves. Sheer muscle!

2024 Stars & Stripes Sale, PA

We have 6 lots in the Stars & Stripes Sale, May 4th, PA. Our cattle are not "clean" or fitted for the pictures for the sale catalog. We have to take the pictures in March and it is too cold and muddy to do anything about their cleanliness or hair coat. We were just winding down from our...

    American Aberdeen Angus

If I had a 51# calf, I'd be looking for triplets!!! LOL

    Strutting his stuff

LOL - I know what you mean. I have had 2 black bull calves tear their ear tag out. Luckily one is bigger than the other. Between filthy eartags that you can't read and missing ones, sure has been difficult to ID them!!!

    2024 Maternal Gems Sale

I totally agree with you. Breed cows to bulls that compliment them - not by numbers.

    2024 Maternal Gems Sale

Oh - Gizmom - that is an understatement. Picture day is GRUELLING---exhausting. Great idea having an animal on halter. We try everything. If anyone out there has more ideas to get "ears up", chime in!
  17. Jeanne - Simme Valley

    American Aberdeen Angus

In this day and age, it amazes me how people worry about calving HEIFERS. If the heifer is grown out properly (not starved), and bred to a decent (not cow killer bull), she should be able to lay down and spit out a good size calf unassisted. People should be more concerned about abnormal...

    2024 Calving

I know what you mean. Great feeling to have last one on ground.

    Show your calf pictures.

Dave - your calves look GREAT. I think location makes a huge difference on the quality of cattle going thru the sale ring. Or you have magic eyes and can "see" what's in there incubating. LOL LOL It makes sense that quality/right type cows would/should have been bred to a quality bull. Buy...

LOL - adorable - but, won't last. Ears were mashed inside mom. They will "open" up.
