    3/4 Ton Truck Recommendation

If you’ve had good luck with the 6.2, and it can haul what you need, I would look for another one, just with a crew cab. That engine and transmission in those trucks are hard to beat for reliability.

    5610 Hydraulics

We’ve got parts from Abingdon equipment before. They have lots of parts tractors on their lot. Might be worth a call to see what they have. https://www.abingdonequipment.com/salvage.htm

    New Tractor

If you have a Kubota dealer near you, I would recommend a Kubota. Mine and my father in law’s family have had good service from the ones we have. If you want new, something like a 7060 would be a good size for what you are needing.

Been keeping a bale out for the cows to pick at to go with the green grass, and noticed the hay ring was missing. Bull must have flipped it over and on her somehow since it was upside down. She had pushed it about 50 yards trying to figure a way out I guess. Glad it happened to one of my gentle...

Neat to see that. That would make for a lot of hard work. Young man is learning some important life lessons helping his family.

    Names of Cross Breds

There used to be a couple folks on here that did that cross, and had some nice tan calves. Not sure about the temperament part, though.

    Dehorning questions

I’ve dehorned a couple with the XL bander and had good results as well. It was probably overkill, but I put gorilla tape over the bands to make sure they didn’t scrape them off or move them before they started digging in good.

    First time haying

Nice looking fields. I hope the weather and equipment all cooperate for you.

I was wondering what the Robin at the barn was fussing about. Dang blacksnake got into it’s nest and got the babies. I’m just glad it didnt fall down on my head. I would have made up all kinds of new cuss words and had to change my britches. Lol.

    Too close for comfort.

That was close. I’m glad you were ok, compared to how bad that could have been. I’d say that hurt on the nose like that and bled pretty bad. Hard to do much of anything with those longhorns in a chute. That was always my concern with big horned cattle if they ran into a problem and needed...

    Santa gert x Brahman bull

What would be your plan with the calves? Between those two, I would go with the Gert since it would add a little less ear and leather to your calves than the Brahman/Gert one. Have you considered other breed bulls like Angus, Hereford, or Charolais? I always heard Charolais and Herefords crossed...

    Beef-master x F1-Brahma cross

I guess it would depend on your goal. You would still get some nice heifers out of that cross, but the steers would take a pretty big hit. If I had those heifers I would put a good Angus or homo polled homo black Simmental Bull on them. The calves would be 1/4 Brahman, so the heifers would still...

Welcome from Tennessee! Where are you located?

    Goat

You’ll think it’s starting to thunder one day and it will just be her pooping and peeing on the roof overhead. lol. I would make sure you don’t have any exposed wires she can get to. Goats get bored and curious, and will nibble on lots of stuff. I’ve had em chew up tractor and trailer wiring...

    Goat

Are you planning to keep her around for a pet, or want more babies out of her down the road? If you’re just keeping her for a pet, I’d get another cheap nanny or a wether to keep with her that way you wouldn’t have the stink and aggravation that comes with a billy. Billies can make some awful...

    Clover Galore

Nice looking grass. That will make for some happy cows. You will have to make sure and not stand too close behind them for a while once you turn them in on that. Ha ha

    Gyr Cattle

Welcome to the forum @Amy H . Thank you for sharing. That’s a very famous herd in the breed. It’s neat to see breed history like that. I’ve always enjoyed the looks and personality of Gyr cattle.

    Today's Adventure

Nice save! That calf was meant to live with the way that timing worked out for you to be there. A few minutes difference, and you would have never known what happened to it. Sounds like a heck of a day for you. Hope he takes you out for supper after your river and cow fighting adventure.

    Always one

Sorry to hear that. That’s always a worry. I hope you can locate a good calf to put on her.

    Navel dip

Good idea. That’s a good size. Looks a lot more durable than the solo cup I usually use too. Lol
