    Young heifer bred

I'll probably get heat for suggesting it, but you should consider taking her to the stock yards. You'd make good money from her as heavy bred, and the yards are always "buyer beware"..

    Compound break

Anyone have any luck setting a compound leg break for a calf? I've tried twice and haven't had any luck. Both times the leg lost blood flow and I ended up putting them down after 2-3 weeks. I spoke to a vet and he didn't recommend bothering to set the leg with a compound. He said it's most...

    Udders influenced by bulls?

The literature that I have seen regards +/-teat and udder structure as "moderately heritable".. that would be enough for me not to retain the bull if I would potentially save replacements sired by him

    need a driving dog

Having said that, for just driving cattle, I'd vote heeler. For anything above and beyond driving: border collie (the heartier BC's, not the sheep or geese ones)

    need a driving dog

In my experience you get 5 stupid cattle dogs for every good 1.. and a lifetime for 1 great dog.. and then once you realize you've really got a great cattle dog, it gets run over by a truck. Much easier to train your cows to follow a bucket.

Suggestions on Angus bull to use ?

CC7 was a great bull. He did add frame. He also would sire the most gentle and docile calves. You could breed him to a Water Buffalo and have a child show their calf.

This is a January '23 gelbvieh that I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on. Not many local gelbvieh breeders and I thought about trying out these folks. Pretty average EPDs but I liked his dam alot. Not great pictures but I'd welcome any feedback. Hard to notice, but he does have small scurrs.
