    Post a random thought

"There have now been 16 straight months of OVER 150,000 illegal border crossings." I would say that 150,000 illegal crossings a month is WAY TOO MANY.

Bull Trying to Hurt Calf.....Little Help, Please

Personally, I do not believe a bull should be out with calving cows. Too many hormone smells which can trigger many unwanted behavior in a bull.

    Timed AI most recent trends?

Jan and Ken -- thanks. That is great info. I was questioning GNRH because I generally give it to a cow at time of breeding if she is actively standing. I "thought" it made her release her egg. Someone told me it didn't, so I was dbl cking my knowledge. Thanks all.

    Timed AI most recent trends?

And "I" may be wrong. But, my understanding is if the cow has already started developing an egg, the CIDR "holds" the egg until CIDR is removed and remaining shots given to release the egg. So, if cow was hours away (or day or 2) from releasing the egg "naturally", then the "ready" egg has...

    Timed AI most recent trends?

I do NOT like to use CIDRs. They will definitely MAKE them cycle - but, you may be working with a stale egg. If I use one to get a cow cycling, I will wait 10 days after her forced heat and PG her. Then breed on that heat. Does anyone have a common language explanation of what a GNRH shot...

    LLSF Vantage Point

Picture of Vantage Point Picture of LLSF Redstone I have never used Vantage Point but I have calves on the ground by LLSF Redstone - both bred by same farm. I like the neck extension on Vantage, but I prefer the deeper body and rump structure of Redstone better.

2024 Stars & Stripes Sale, PA

We have 6 lots in the Stars & Stripes Sale, May 4th, PA. Our cattle are not "clean" or fitted for the pictures for the sale catalog. We have to take the pictures in March and it is too cold and muddy to do anything about their cleanliness or hair coat. We were just winding down from our...

    Steer stuffer worth it?

LOL - I didn't know what a "stuffer" was. I kinda figured it was a self-feeder. All depends on how much you want to PUSH your cattle. I PUSH my steers. I only have a paddock to separate feeder steers during the summer. So, I only feed out my September-October fall born steers. They MUST be...
