    Storing Round Bales

I am defiantly convinced on protecting the hay. The tarps and tires are very effective. They just are not convenient. A three sided barn might be in my future but not now. I am looking for something better till then.

    Storing Round Bales

I hope to be able to someday but it isn't possible at the moment. I agree a building doesn't make sense dollar wise but it sure starts to make more sense when you are playing with frozen tires and tarps on a windy night below 0!

    Storing Round Bales

I currently store my hay stacked three high on used tires and covered with quality tarps but I am always looking for a cheaper and more convenient way. Does anyone know how effective storing them on a 6" gravel pad is? Four heavy truck tires per bale are extremely effective but getting off the...

    Best hay ring??

http://www.leidenlandandcattle.com/haysaver-hay-feeders.html I recently received one of these haysavers. I have only feed out about a half dozen bales but I am happy with it so far. Construction is great. It is very durable and the tire base will not rust out. Mine has every other bar...

    Mineral Feeder.

I made my own. I took and old truck tire and cut most of each sidewall off. Poured a few inches of concrete in the bottom and stuck a piece of 3/4 inch all thread in it. Used a couple of washers and nuts to hold a rubber mat in place. Seems to be working fine so far.

How much cold can cattle tolerate?

I like to give my cattle free choice shelter. I figure they will know better than me. If it is dry and calm they will sleep outside regardless of how cold it is. Even with several inches of snow on their back. When it is wet and windy they will run for the barn.

    High Efficiency Hay Feeder

I actually did stockpile a bit of pasture this year. One group is grazing it now and are much happier than the group eating hay. We get too much snow and I don't have enough land for it to be a complete answer but it does help! My schedule is not reliable enough to depend on me unrolling hay...

    High Efficiency Hay Feeder

Thank you. Has anyone used their feeders? If so, what do you think of them? I buy my hay so I will feed whatever I can get the best deal on. So far that has always been 4X5 rounds. I currently have two groups. A bull and a couple of steers in one and seven cows in the other. This feeder...

    High Efficiency Hay Feeder

Can anyone recommend a high efficiency hey feeder that will hold more than a single bale at a time? I don't have that many cattle but I plan on growing. Also I have a full time job off the farm and this time of year I rarely see the farm in the daylight. Being able to fill it one or twice a...

How do you feed your hay rolls?

I also have a home made shed on skids that fits one round bale and has six "V" feeding openings. It has a floor and roof. Thinking of making another that will hold two bales. I also have a ring. This year the ring only feeds four head and a bale lasts roughly a week. I have had a couple of...
