Lately I’ve been toying with the idea of incorporating some Santa Gertrudis genes to my herd. We run commercial bred to registered Brangus, but my interest in Santa Gertrudis has been peaked lately. We need good heat tolerance where we are (Southern CA)- which is a benefit I know that a Gert...
Thank you! I love this advice because it makes me even more excited to get started. I was planning on avoiding an order buyer for my first group (it will be a small one) and maybe get set up with one in the next load I purchase (hopefully a bigger group). If things progress the way I’m hoping...
Both! My plan was to supplement feed for the first four weeks at least and see how they do. After that I was planning to watch their gains and add to/subtract from the feed I’m supplementing as they graze.
Thank you! I will do so!
Regrettably no, I do not have any pictures of the survivors & none of that bull. He was some sort of Charolais cross is all I could tell and he was taken care of but unfortunately all of the damage had already been done. I only got a few photos here and there of the...

I have the option to get this tule grass for a really good deal, but I’m worried my cattle won’t eat it if I pull the trigger and buy it. They’re currently grazing and getting fed dumps of carrots. What would y’all do?
Also- we do not have a grinder.
